I cant believe one of the top Professional Wrestlers (even though its fake) would do something like that....especially kill his Son...

I dont watch wrestling and all but that was shocking, Seeing that hes Canaidian and all Like me.

I can believe it. The list of celebrities that are unhappy or mentally unhealthy is notoriously long.

EDIT: This is not to imply that professional wrestling (which I dislike very strongly) breeds unhappy or mentally unhealthy individuals. It is meant as a general observation of the nature of fame.

I love watching WWE and Chris Benoit was by far one of my favourites there. I do know from various sources that he lived and breathed for his family and they meant the world to him.

Judging from what has been released by the WWE it would seem what happened was a crime of passion. I can't help but think that Benoit could have been secretly very disturbed and maybe he got wind that his wife was going to leave him, went home to try to stop her, and he snapped. When he eventually came to his senses, he realised what he done, and couldn't go on anymore so killed himself.

There have been contradicting rumours that his wife killed the son (not sure if it was by accident as we havent had details) and then Benoit killed his wife and then himself. Anyway you look at it, its a big shock to anyone who grew up watching wrestling. :nope:

Anyone want to start putting bets on steroid psychosis?

The WWE site has strongly refuted those claims. Some details regarding the deaths of the wife and son (the fact they were bound/strangled, apparently, or that bibles were prominently present where they died) certainly do point to the fact it was deliberate and perhaps pre-planned, not done in a psychotic rage.

I have no interest in wrestling at all myself and have no idea who the guy was until he died, but from a human standpoint - this is very sad.

Prolong use of steroids can make anyone lose it.

My friend, who is a huge wrestling fan, says that the list of wrestlers who have died young and from unnatural causes is large compared to athletes in other sports. His friend was a minor wrestler, and said there is a lot of hard core drug use in wrestling beyond steroids. They act more like rockstars than athletes.
