UBI shot themselves in the A&& W/ a circle runner, and PC gamers got shot in the back,by paying to be Beta testers. It leaves a nasty taste,& is hard to swallow.
Patch 1.03,may redeem UBI somewhat, but of three boats upgraded to our career effort, all Have had the rudder fall off.At least once. This is getting old,and is not real life. Perhaps more RL would be,rudder jammed, surface repair only!(NOTICE) Now having to save to work around bugs is annoying. The screws rotate incorrectly,& the dive plains don't deploy submerged.
The FINISHED product IMHO>would be to have port,&stb. propulsion interface of ENGINE enunciation indicators. I for one would pay for this on expansion disc. After all it would be real life Ops.
Currently modded to the hilt,we are not playing often, awaiting Patch 1.03,like the rest of you. Although the modding community has made the game less annoying,& even improved the interface,To Playable.I wish the devs.Gods Speed,For a finished product.Helen Wait, UBI's CEO.secretary, isn't going to get it finished.

Ive wanted independant engine control for a very long time.
But I can live without it.
Lost your rudder three times.. geeze thats some bad luck your havin there. I have literally 'thousands' of hours (game time) logged.
Been in some pretty good scrapes in those hours.
Ive lost my rudder once.
You know what I did then ? Well to be honest I loaded a previous save.
Im not giving UBI a pass for pressing the product to the shelves to meet some arbitrary quartely profit projections.
I will give them a nod for the patch team. Its the least they could do.
I only hope that they (UBI) understand that there push to market ultimatly hurt sales and reviews.
I dont think the suits really understand the market.
What another month or two could have done.

Very true. In my experience with sims (not the EA sims game :88)) there is a level of quality that needs to be met. We aren't the largest gaming community but we are loyal and willing to pay for a quality product. SH4 is quality already but simmers hate bugs, and SH4 was released with many. Heck we're still talking about them now!
Wait for 1.3 either way, the game is far from unplayable, heck it's bloody brilliant. :|\\

Frustration, Boredom, Anger = Patch 1.3 :damn: :damn:
After numerous test scenarios with and without the excellent modifications created by the Subsim community I have come to the unalterable conclusion that the good in this game is far out weighted by the bad.
Sadly, I do not think patch three will be the miracle we all need.
I am somewhat distressed that I paid Ubi over $50 bucks (taxes and such) to be a beta tester for what could have been the greatest WW2 Subsim ever. Granted there are but a few thousand of us, not the millions the suits would like, but with this kind of low quality work (Not talking about the graphics they are great) there will never be millions.
I have read different statements of what many people think is wrong with this game – etc. One thinks the damage control works fine and another one thinks it sucks. I for one agree with the latter.
That was only one of many problems that should not have been in the first place. Yet, the Subsim community continues to do the work for Ubi to try and salvage something that is headed for the deep six, already past crush depth. That is Loyalty.
Ubi does not care. They have your money.
A person would be very lucky indeed to have friends as dedicated and loyal as this community has been to this sim.
I respect all of you (modders & skinners) for your abilities, if not for some of your manners.
I choose not to continue this façade. It makes me sad to witness such potential devoured by the greed which resulted in the production of such a low quality product.
I am out of here and I will not be missed. However, like Arnold "I’ll be back" to catch the third act. Maybe then I will have to eat my words, but most likely not.

They understand the market.
It's the individual player they don't get.

SteamWake, for the record. I don't think I have ever have an "unalterable conclusion" in my life. If I ever had one, someone always came along and altered it. I had to look up unalterable just to make sure I spelled it right. I think my frustration is that SH4 is a good game, when it just as easily could have been a great game. That post was I guess you could say a summary of stuff I had read through the forum over the past few weeks. With folks dying and crying over things we don't have control of. We do just have to wait and hope the Dev Team does their best. And you know as well as I that no matter how good the patch is, to somebody it will still not be good enough.
Once again I apologize if I offended anyone. That is not normally my nature.

Your preaching to the choir here.
Fact of the matter is that the 'product' was placed on the shelves before it was finished.
To Ubi's credit two patches were pushed post haste.
But alas... some 'features' like radar still not were corrected.
We... the "community" had to virtually beg the Publishers to 'allow' the developers to fix the features.
Another nod to Ubi in that they uhhh... agreed to publish a patch.
Way I look at it is ... they gave us some 'tools' that the very talented moddifiers can make it "as real as it gets !" or a rapid fire laser cannon with nuclear tipped torpedoes.
I sure hope that the Pubs learn a lesson here. I'm convinced that there premature release of the product will ultimatly cost them in units sold.
Just a few more months and it could have been a blockbuster. Hell who knows we may have even gotten historical accuracy !

Hell who knows we may have even gotten historical accuracy !
LOL... we did get it... another historically botched job that again needs fixing. That makes 4 so far. :yep:
:hmm: And it seems the modders are the ones doing the fixing so far. We'll just have to wait the extra month or so to see how well patch 3 fixes things.

Thanks to some spectacular MODs (all hail the community  ) , I have to admit to returning to and enjoying SH4 recently. When patch 1.2 was released, all those months ago, I went ahead and declared SH4 improved by 60%, but there were still some unforgivable bugs/flaws that put me off playing. I still stand by that. However, I am confident that 1.3, combined with some of the more essential MODS, will finally get SH4 to a level we can all live with and even grow to love.
So, I for one am looking toward a brighter future. I salute you all. By the way, does anybody know if SH4 made the target sales figures that would facillitate the production of a SH5?

Well it seems SH-4 has brought out the Good and Bad in all of us.
I can't wait till SH-5 comes out.
Look Mates,& I mean that in all sincerity.
I started this thread with the intention of perhaps/wishing to get added the one redeeming simulated real life Ops.NONE HAVE GONE BEFORE!
This Simulation is SUPER. The finished product, could knock your socks off,for the next ten years. Just as SH1,has for the last ten.
That said,as you have noticed JCC's,comment didn't sit to well on the bridge,me being the skipper an all.
My remarks in quotes, were names he called others in this fine community,& I had my panty's in a wad, with his snide regard.
I believe good men can admit change for a better example. Enough said about that.
I know you all love this game. The(raindeer games) that may have driven some great modders away,is certainly regrettable, but code must be rewritten to allow duel engine control of screws, how many would front this feature,is the gist of this post.Thxs.,ALL Subsimmer's
