Loose vodka sinks ships.

Well, I had to think of something appropriate for SubSim.

The leader of the British Conservative MEPs, Timothy Kirkhope, also welcomed the vote, saying "people are free today to drink the vodka they want - the British vodka drinker is saved from protectionists in Poland and Finland".

I bet Timmy hasnt ever even tasted vodka.

It's a shame.
I import my Vodka from Poland or get it from a few Polish season workers I know.

English Vodka is kack!

I can't believe this.

Kind of crazy that certain things like Wensleydale and Parma Ham are protected but Vodka isn't.

I remember Asda getting into trouble because they bought their Parma ham in Italky and then had it packed in the UK and they couldn't call it Parma ham or something like that.

Indeed I guess some people like paint thinner, I'll stick with the good stuff from the vodka belt. Well I rarely drink vodka actually. More of a beer and wine guy.

But if it's hard stuff, it better be good.

I suppose that is Smirnoff lobbyism at work...
Real Vodka comes from Russia (or better ex USSR), Poland or Finland anyway.
Everything else is just not the real thing

We need more EU interference and regulations in the market!

No...really....we do! False vodka stinks!

Ahh, but if it says "Vodka" put doesn't contain Vodka then I am being cheated in to buying it.

Same goes for absinthe, which is usually a mix of alcoholic oils and not absinthe.

If it says "vodka" than it should be vodka and not some hideous mix of oils and alcohol.

I never thought id say this but if Russia was in EU they would have not dared.:rotfl:

To hell with Vodka, it's just flavoured petrol. This is the only drink worth buying:

How Legal is that in Germany?

In the UK it is only legal with reduced wormwood content. Most of the Absinthe bought over the bar is just cheep oils and not distilled.

I have a bottle of clear white Absinthe with full wormwood content in the drinks cabinet waiting for a special occasion.

No idea. It's freely available (the good stuff) in Spain.

Absinthe has been made, ahem, illegally in Switzerland until the law was changed in 2005 and is now made in the Val-de-Travers region where it is said to have originated. Never tried it myself.

Oh my God, I once had it! I use the rest as a iodine replacement and wound disinfectant, to dissolves varnishes and glues, and to clean the gaps between the tiles in my bathroom.

Dalwhinnie is Scottish and Jameston 1780 is Irish enough for me...

Same here, the distilled is forbiden. But I didn't mind seeing kylie minogue aka "la feé verte" from time to time. :D
