Interviews a U-boat Comander
by Lucy LeDuc
Paris, 20 August 1941
We found Kapitanleutnant Bucher at the Sheherezade nightclub, surrounded by bottles of champagne and adoring Russian Gypsy dancers.
LT: Good evening, Captain. Would you mind telling our readers what is it like to serve in submarines?
Bucher: It's awful
LT: You have earned every medal your country can award. Can you tell us how you earned them?
Bucher: By having an awful time in submarines. Have a drink.
LT you have also sunk over a million tons of British shipping. That's a lot.
Bucher: It is a lot, I had to delegate the tonnage bookkeeping to Bernard.
LT: Hitler invited you to Berlin to congratulate you personnaly, how was that visit?
Bucher: It was awful, he served only coffee. A waste of valuable drinking time.
LT:As a German hero, can you say something that won't get our magazine shut down?
Bucher: Yes, have another drink.
