Historical accuracy aside, are tenders present in SHIV 1.2 without any mods, and if so, where? If they're there, I'll use them, regardless of what history would say. Running from Brisbane up to a patrol in the Philippines in a Salmon Class is nearly impossible without a refit/refuel somewhere on the way there and/or back. If tenders are a mod thing only, I guess I'll have to wait until 1.3 (or later...) to start modding. In any case, I just need an answer.

Sub tenders are parked of islands like marshalls and other places during the game. They represent a refueling area.

Historically, Submarine Tenders did exist and continue to do so (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/as.htm). There were also Destroyer Tenders (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/ad.htm)as well. Currently there are only Submarine Tenders, but are still on the Registrar list, but are inactive and mantained by MARAD.

As for their locations in game:
Johnson Atoll
The island north of Guadalcanal
A Bay north of Brisbane

And I know there are others . . . but haven't experienced them yet.

They appear to be modelled off the current class of tenders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Submarine_tender)

Thanks! I had not even seen this in the game thus far. I'll make sure to keep an eye out from now on!

They appear as stripy anchors on the nav map after mid 1942 (I think). They're real handy too!!

Ahh.... after mid-1942, that explains why I haven't seen any yet. I haven't yet survived past early 1942. :D

My current campaign is looking much more promising, though, so hopefully I make it long enough to see one. It would be very useful to be able to refuel/reload without having to go all the way back to Fremantle or Midway.

There also a good way to 'extend' your carrier. If you run out of munitions and have no more missions you will recieve no more missions..... Unless you go to a tender re-fit, and file a patrol report... poof new mission orders. No early retirement.

I tend to run about 6 'missions' per patrol.

Only catch is the load times start getting long. Timed one at 8 minutes last night.

Do you run out of Brisbane mostly? My current campaign started in manila, but on my third transfer I have been put in pearl and even after stopping at midway I have been really stretching fuel even running 1/3 speed, my current mission has me going to China. I am at late '42 and am hoping soon there will be tenders farther out in the mid pacific. In other words I have quite a haul just for a refit.
