Finally got around to going to sub school. A waste of time IMHO .

Passed all coures easy. I thought it would be a little more difficult.

You don't get a Atta Boy or any extra renown. So why bother.

I forgot I had Beerys mod installed and it didn't make any difference.

Is there something that can be done to this in the name of realism to get more out of this part of the game ?

No renown ?

I thought that was the whole motivation for the thing.

I guess they were somebodys idea of a tutorial.

ps; Ive never tried it (sub school)

I admit the sub school gave me a basic feel for the game, but in reality it's as helpful as the manual. I basically went from SH1 to SH4. I have 2 and 3 but never really got into them. Although I'm considering giving 3 another shot.

Three is useful to learn manual targeting. Having the speed, distance and AOB would be more useful more repeat practice. I don't think the others are worth the bother.

Hi Guys :D

When I did a search before starting thread I found Deathfrombelow23's thread Sub school any point ??? .

It was awhile back so I thought I'd se if anything new besides the good tutorials.

I am hopeing for something more ingame to really have a SUB SCHOOL .

I've d\l'd all the single missions and a few patrol missions that show ingame in their select spots.

So i'm wondering if the same GREAT modders " how's that for buttering them up" :D could fix this up for us and have a real School and get some kind of Certificate in game.

What do all you guys think?

Well.....I can see the point you are making here, although the missions may not seem to be much of a school or tutorial type deal, I have found them extremely helpfull for experimentation if nothing else, ecspeciallly the "Torpedo School".

Hey there!

Are you new to the Silent Hunter series? If so, I can absolutely see your point. Ubi (IMHO) dropped the ball on documentation, if you can call it that.

P.S. I don't mean to be one of those pain in the behinds or terminal complainers, but I played SH3 a lot, and if it were not for this forum, I would be lost in some areas of game play (I suppose I should say "Simplay") lol!

Thank you Subsim.com .....Have been an enormous database of info:up:

No not new have all four of series but played SH3 the most.

Iguess I just want a little more in SH4 . It was just a wishthought for maybe one of our modders.

With that said it's off to the local pub"walking distance" to have a few cold ones and ponder on this wishthought on this 6:00pm friday nite in Southern California. It's in the mid 80"s rite now.

Talk to you all later.:p

I should have known by the amount of your posts you were not new. Give this game a chance, you'll love it in no time!

One trick I discovered is to open the Torpedo Training mission in the mission editor and move the cruiser to about 4 miles away from your Sub. This gives you a lot more time to set up your attack and to check the validity of your solution against the Position Keeper.

It also gives you time to practice stern shots.
