Yup.. I *know* it was covered, 'somewhere'... but the problem is I can't remember/find WHERE! Some configuration change or something like that. I tried The Fix before to no effect. With updated Video I am hopeful it will help...

Where ??

The only thing that works for me is reducing the graphics/increasing the frame rates. I finally had to break down and lower the resolution to 1024x768, now I can have all the graphic options turned on with no mouse lag.

It happens to me when my memory become fragmented... a reboot solve it.

How many RAM are you using ?

I normally run in 1024 in the first place. Just a carry-over from other games, I guess. I have 2 GB of RAM. I like to run the video for High quality, a lot of my enjoyment of the games come from 'eye-candy'...

This isn't BAD, it is just that last night I remembered the topic and some fellow's 'cure' ...

Yes i remember somebody talking about some kind of fix, but i cant found it.

I run the game into 1024 too, and with 3GB RAM, but most of the people have not any kind of problem with 2GB RAM.

Try closing all non needed background programs, you can use End It All 2 and Security Task Manager.... and try uninstalling the game, defrag you HD, and reinstall it on a fresh defreged HD.

To avoid to reinstall all mods, just make a copy of you complete Data folder....

Good luck... and comment if you found a good fix for it...

I'm running on a Fresh Install; I just did a Reformat on the computer. Oh, well... it truly is a 'small' complaint... Still, maybe the Author of The Fix will happen to come by and tell us all about it...again!

Is it possible that this ->http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=116633 is the thread talking about the mouse issues and fixes...its the one I remember anyways.

Thanks for the try, GT... Nope, that's not the one. There was something about going into Data/Config.. I think.

As a matter of fact, I am running a ATI X1600 and Two Sample A-A... The Game is fine, great... it is the 'delay' in the drag of that mouse cursor that irritates...

I had a laggy mouse issue while "tweaking" some video configs in my nvidia panel. There is an option "max frames to render ahead" that is set to 2 by default. When I put it to 0, I gain quite some fps but my mouse seems to get obese with this setting. Back to 2 then.

The only thing I see to help this issue is to target your frame rates at 18FPS or higher. This seems to let the mouse go and move smoothly.

Maybe I was under the influence of a Full Tummy when I thought I had seen this topic covered...

Thanks.... all around, anyway, Mates..

Two threads about mouse issues with possible fixes. Second has a link along with instructions for a fix that involves a file edit so maybe this one's your guy? Good luck...

YES ! That is it ! I just checked it out, and while I am very happy for your help, I don't see a bit of difference in the cursor activity. But that's OK; at least I was able to find and try it. Thanks to all...

I put the pedal to the metal, running 1600 X 1200, and ALL the boxes checked. The game is fine and if I am just a little careful with the mouse.... well, that's 'OK'...

Great game, isn't it....

While we're on the subject, My mouse and frame rates seem fine, I'm getting 25 to 30 FPS in exterior, while on deck or looking through the scope, double or triple that on other views, but when trying to fine tune the TDC (angle on bow or speed settings) sometimes what appears to be a 35 degree setting and sending to TDC and then looking at the tool tips (the little flags that appear when holding the mouse over the position keeper dials) what I thought I sent may be off a degree or two. Is that the game or my system?

How do you check the frame rates?

How do you check the frame rates?

Ctrl F8 will display your frame rate at the top of your screen.

I found this little tid-bit of information a couple of weeks ago at Tweek Guides. Seems to have helped some in my gaming.

If you have a lot of extra hard drive space, you can increase the size of your Pagefile which acts as Virtual Memory for high resource applications that drain your system. With a lot of background processes running on your OS, sometimes your system runs out of memory when you run complex 3D games and causes nasty CTD's. This can be sorted with a Pagefile increase, which also helps your comp to run smoother and better. Here's how to do it:

1)Start Menu>Control Panel>System (This is using Windows Classic View instead of Category View)
2)Go to the Advanced tab and click the Settings button under Performance
3)Click the Advanced tab in the new window and click the Change button at the bottom
4)Before you increase or decrease your Pagefile/Virtual Memory you must first clear it. Opposite the Set button is an option labelled No Paging File. Click it and Click Set.
5)Restart your computer and follow steps 1-3 as described above.
6)Now that you've cleared your Pagefile and restarted, you can specifiy an amount of hard drive space to be set aside and used as Virtual Memory. Click Custom Size and in the Initial Size (MB) box enter the minimum, in Megabytes you would like to assign. For reference mine is 5000.
7)Now set a value in the Maximum Size (MB) box, again in Megabytes. For reference mine is 10000.
8)Now click Set, Ok, Ok, Apply and Ok and restart your comp once more for the changes to take effect.

By doing this, you will have set the minimum amount of Virtual Memory to 5000MB or 5GB, and the maximum to 10000MB or 10GB. You can of course use more or less, depending on the size of your hard drive amongst other things. I recommend uninstalling and deleting any software and/or files that you don't want/need, cleaning the registry and defragging your HD along with this process to free up HD space and minimise loading times in general. There are a number of guides available online detailing how to optimise and get the most out of your hardware. I highly recommend the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion available at the link below.

If you only occasionally start getting it all of a sudden, then minimize your game to the taskbar, wait a few sec (best let your system calm down), then maximize it again. Fixed.

At least works for me. Don't know if that was the fix you were talking about, but it fixes it for me.

If the mouse is always laggy, then your gfx settings are too high. Turn environmental effects off for starters or reduce gfx quality in your gfx card settings outside the game.

Turning on V-Sync in the Options helped me if you haven't tried it already
