View Full Version : Watchman Bug
Is there no fix for the watchman bug yet? Still gotta place him manually by myself after surfacing.
There are tons of patches released and no one fixes this bug. Is there any mod or unofficial fix for this problem?

As far as I know nobody succeded in fixing that, although many have tried... :damn:
Yeah, it's one of the most wanted fixes for me too. Unfortunately, nobody fixed it until now.

Good question. That's the first (repetitive) thing I do every time I surface!

What exactly do you mean by the 'watchman bug'? :hmm:

Well, not a bug "per se" but rather an annoying feature that many people would like changed :|\\

I don't know whether it is possible to fix that bug.:hmm:
But if I remember correctly, an officer in the engine room does change his position automatically, e.g., when you submerge he goes from diesel to electric engine room.
So, at least it is feasible theoretically. Correct me if I'm wrong.
But I don't have the knowledge to fix that bug, sorry.:-?

The watch officer does not man his station after surfacing. (Only crewman do) That is they call Watchman bug.
Everytime you need to place him manually from the crew management screen.

The age old reason.
Hardcoded. Not possible to fix without an SDK.
So many talented people have looked at solving this problem/issue and the answer has always been the same.
Give the poor sod a break!!!
The poor watch officer can not be up top 24/7 he's not Superman you know. ;) :p

Oh, please. In 39-40, he's the only guy in Uboat service with a tan, so you KNOW he's getting the frauleins when we're in port.

Not on my boat, I keep that randy sod under lock and key with a MG-42 in his face. I am not having French fishwives waving there rolling pins at me for what my watch officer did to there daughters. :rotfl: :arrgh!:

So it must be handled by ubisoft eh? a common problem with so many complaints, and people ask for a fix, yet they must be deaf not to respond that!

It's an annoying thing, I agree.
But suppose it's intended?
Didn't the 1st WO had to report to the captain, before he went up to the bridge?

Well, considering how many hours I spend in my bunk reading racy French novels and drooling over French postcards, I can't really blame the guy....
I poke him up with a sharp stick.
Ouch. :arrgh!:

I have to be honest....
At the beginning, i used to rant all the time, because I always forgot to bring him back to the connign tower after I surfaced. but some time later, i got used to do it automatically, and now I don't even notice that I do it.
True, it would be nice it could happen by default. ;)

I only use it in rotten weather and infrequently. ;)
You can only use infrequently in rotten weather. Every time a wave hits it turns itself off!:rotfl::rotfl:
You can have a calm sea lots of rain and a good helping of fog. ;)
Ah STEED me old mate. That's not rotten weather! That's huntin' weather!:arrgh!:
True, but you can not see a darn thing until it's on top of you.
That's what your RADAR is for!:rotfl:
Problem is they can see you too if they have RADAR.
Its a conundrum isn't it?
