Right now, he's probably saying "do you add or subtract magnetic azimuth?"

I'm sure he will be okay when they find him, but I would hate to be a non-com lost on a land navigation course. Something tells me he won't here the end of this one when he gets back to his unit.

I drove my humvee into a pond, and drove my tank into a ditch (throwing both tracks and snapping a torsion bar), but luckily never got lossed during landnav.

It sounds like he was on his Primary Leadership Development Course, so he probably just made sergeant.

But I thought you had to complete that course, and your Basic NCO Course before making sergeants. I would hate to think the Army is being forced to promote folks to noncom before completing even rudimentary training.

I just hope he didn't fall off a cliff while walking at night and break his neck. Still, it says he was an exemplary soldier, so you would think he would know enough to stay put. But, his might have gotten in the way, and he might have kept going longer than he should have.

I hope they find him soon.

That is terrible. Dying on a land navigation course. It's almost unthinkable.

Update: It says now he died of dehydration and hyperthermia.
