Hey all,

I've been looking through the forums for anything like this particular bug and have come up with nothing. Perhaps it may have eluded me in my search or maybe someone out there has also seen it...

What happens is, when i get some sort of relatively minor damage (such as being grazed by a bomb or hit by one arty shell) and fully repair all damage components, I still visually see the broken water pipe spewing water in both the main control room and conning tower room.

The water makes no sound which i believe is another bug, but my problem is that the damn thing wont go away. If i were to save and reload, the first report i get is that i'm taking damage (absolutely no action outside, middle of nowhere) but the damage report screen shows nothing wrong at all, and the water still spews out in the main control room.

I also put a fully trained damage control team at readiness, and watch them dick around with their wrenches for days at a time, yet they get nothing done in reference to the waterfall a couple feet away from them :88) ...talk about crappy priorities i guess.

It seems my chief can go about his day and be totally oblivious to the high intensity water stream slamming into the side of his head, but I'm afraid i dont have the same patience to simply ignore it. :p

I'm in a Balao class sub, running fleetboat mod 1.28 with some other minor mods.

Anyone else see this? Any ideas on how to stop that infernal silent flooding?

Thanks.

Same and similar bugs happen to me all the time. (I'm in a Porpoise, running patch 1.2 and Trigger Maru 1.2)

I'm afraid the damage control system in SH4 is completely whacked out all around.

Hi guys

I recently had a similar experience. I got some artillery shells in my turret, which left a gaping hole there.

My damage screen also said, that there was urgent repair - and it got repaired with exception of the observation periscope.

The "funny" side of it - the gaping hole stayed (of course) and left the whole vessel at a 45° angle downward - blowing of all tanks could not surface more than the backward end of the boat. So obviously the boat was running full of water in the forward compartments - which is correct from the graphical view.

The damage section did not mention anything of this - just the observation periscope still being out of action.

The crew management screen said, that all were happy and alive ??? (in all sections ?!)

I have to say, that somehow I miss the clear picture of SHIII on this - it was obvious, when the sections were flooded. Even if the damage management now seems to be more sophisticated - and crew managament is better now - there is some serious bug on this.

I see the leaking water/broken glass internal indicators for damage while looking around in my sub from time to time as well. On my most recent patrol I engaged a convoy in relatively shallow water and after firing my load of torps went deep to begin slinking away...However in the 30 min I'd been setting up my attack I completely forgot I was only around 140 feet of water. I was sitting at my sonar when suddenly I began to hear the squeal of my keel scraping something. I immediately remembered my depth situation and ordered all stop(thankfully only going 1-2 knots before hand) and let myself come to rest on the sea floor. So I decided to pull a "Down Periscope" and just chill until the two destroyers finished sniffing around. No damage registered to anything or was reported...however ever since I can see water spraying in my different compartments. I recently refitted and its still there! Oh well...hopefully the damage model will get cleaned up some with 1.03.

Thanks. In real life getting hit by a shell or grazed by a bomb would probably render the hull useless so i guess its realistic and just your poor leadership skills that have let your sub mates down . Dont take it personally but you need to do better next time .

It seems the damage control guy in the bridge only knows how to fix that one valve handle. The graphics are very limited in the bridge and with the crew.

I think the leak in the control room and conning tower is a substitute for the hull damage indicator that we had in SH3. Any minor damage to the hull will start the leak.

I was just goofing around and tried to settle on a reef outside of Midway. A few hard bumps started the leak. Odd thing though is a refit at Midway didn't correct the problem. I thought Midway should be able to at least make temp repairs, but it looks like only an end patrol can.

Was it necesary to answer that way?, besides his skill in the GAME the water pumps should be repaired.

Gimme a break! :P I run this wonky sim on 100%, the only reason why that jap merchey got lucky, is that while running on 64x TC in closing on the radar contact, my crew neglected to tell me that they had spotted a ship and it was firing at us ('nother bug?). Only found out i was hit when the sim decided to drop to 1x after the fact hehe. As for the bomb, well-there you got me. I just like shooting at the bitching betties :p . And no worries, i see where you're coming from.

Thanks all for the replies, I had just wanted to see if i was alone on this issue due to my personal mod configuration. I can see now that it's most likely one of the numerous little issues scattered about the sim. Thank god there's no sound to the water leak--perhaps that's intentionally done by the dev team in response to a problem they themselves could not fix before release? who knows.

Anywho, thanks again everyone (especially Ref ;) ), I guess I just have to ignore it, or better yet just stay on deck watch. =]
