View Full Version : SH3 crashes since update JSGME
Hello Kaleun's,
Yesterday i updated JSGME to the latest version.
As reccomended i disabled all mods before actually updating.
Afterwards i reinstalled the mods but now the game starts to hang during load (not the SH3-menu, but a mission or campaign that is loading.
During this load i heared another application in the background giving a "beep" (standard windows error sound).
So i ended SH3 via windows task manager and then i could see the error pop-up.
It said: "Menu ID not found: 0x3f480001!"
Anyone knows the reason of this error?
Is it the update, or is there something wrong with the reinstall of the mods?
(i'm using GWX 1.03 with SH3-commander 2.7)
Thanks already!
Regards,
fvd

Did you also perform a 'rollback'?

You have a screwed-up file: menu_1064_768.
With JSGME, deactivate all mods and the game should load. Then add one by one the mods. When the incompatible file is loaded, you will get the crash and error sound and message;
Alternately, you can open the mod folders and see which mods have a menu 1064_768 file and test those mods to see which one is causing the problem.

Why create something that doesn't need recreating. A wheel is a wheel, no matter what you do to it. My original JSGME works fine IMHO, so I didn't find a need to upgrade it.

I take the same view on many things, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Thanks for the feedback Mel, but as I said, IMHO, a wheel is a wheel and if it isn't broken then there's no reason to fix it, and I can't think of any reason to improve JSGME. Now as for SH3 itself (stock) the wheel wasn't made properly and therefore needed fixing, hence GWX 1.03 and something there needed fixing, hence 1.04

Just because it "ain't broke" doesn't mean it can't get better.
Think of sex.

Not surprisingly it's usually the same people that say this that say "why is my machine not working properly?"!
For those that miss the connection, it's because software updates are released for a REASON.
Or let me put it another way... Rob, what's it like driving your car with wheels created in the 5th century BC? Think about it...

I'm sure that the latest version of JSGME is better than previous versions. However, I use a really old version with DW that hasn't given me any problems so personally I don't feel the need to upgrade it, basically it does what I want it to. I use the version which came with GWX with SHIII, again no issues. So I can see where robj250 is coming from. You here many stories of users upgrading software and then having an issue of some sort, so if everything is working OK and the software is doing what you want it to why bother to upgrade unless there is a feature in the new version that would make your life much easier?

That is correct in general but never an issue with Jaesen's programs ;)
In any case people are free to use it however they like as long as they have fun with their game. So get out there and sink some ships :D :arrgh!:

Jaesen, why do you always pick on me, I did not say there was anything wrong with JSGME, I just said, I found no reason to upgrade it, even though there were improvements in it.
Yes, true, but if the "white man" hadn't come so far in technology, we would not have the polution that we have. I expect that will give you something to criticise me about as well. So let's quit this before it gets started.
@Cap, Mel Thanks.
@HunterICX. Not a bad idea, eh.
