View Full Version : Changing skins mid-patrol?

I know it's not historically correct. Can just imagine "Okay men, break out the paint brushes" in the middle of the Atlantic!

But, I fancy changing the look of my IXC and I've just left a meeting with the Corrientes in the Canaries so it'll be a while to port. Is it safe for me to appy a new look or should I wait?

This is in GWX with SH3Cmdr if that matters...

IT IS NOT ADVISED!......but, technically speaking, if your skins are textures (TGA files) only then it can and has been done in the past.

Please don't hold me responsible if it nerfs your patrol/career.:) Do so at you own risk.

:hmm: Have I covered my a$$ enough?

Don't forget to roll back SH3 Cmdr.

Thanks Danlisa, I hear what you're saying. Maybe I'll be patient and get back to Lorient before sprucing up. Ironic really as I want to have a more weathered appearance (the boat that is, I'm weathered enough).

Thanks for the advice.

EDIT: Ahhhhh, that's not the knid of look I had in mind. Too much lippy!

Sorry for the plug.:rotfl::rotfl:

As far as changing graphics mid-patrol it's certainly do-able but I would test it out on a second install first to find any pit falls.

I have frequently changed my skins while on patrol but I have backups and it only takes me 5mins (approx) to restore my version of SH3/GWX to default. So it's no great issue if I cause problems.

Good hunting Kaleun.:up:

Wow, thanks Dan. Have downloaded and will probably risk applying later! I'm only at the 'end' of a rather strange first patrol in my IX (95k tons inc. 55k tons of neutral tankers :-?) but have re-supplied at the Corrientes and set out for more mayhem. If I loose it all I would not mind too much as it would allow me to avoid trigger-happiness second time out!

EDIT What a relief, my Bangkok experience is at an end!
