He's got a broken leg - still much much better than what would have happened to him not so many years ago in a similar accident.

Edit - okies ,now the news is getting here it is only a mild concussion and a sprained ankle :o , Deffinately a lot safer cars than not so long ago

 Kudos to the safety of the Formula cars nowadays

in a civil car you would be dead for sure

but indeed..lucky he was alright and suffered minor injuries
get wel soon Kubica:up:

Saw it as it happened last night.

The first thing that went through my mind was Senna and his accident. Thankfully things have improved in F1 since those days.

Amazing footage - just glad he's ok.

That is one lucky escape/outcome :yep:

Very lucky

Good race, glad to see Hamilton on top. Ferraris were nowhere and Raikonnen is proving to be vastly overrated. Alonso also doesn't seem to be handling Hamilton too well.

It was a scary accident, I hope he gets back to shape quickly.

Same here, my livingroom went dead for a while. We all thought he was seriously injured or worse.

Here is a good pic of the forces in play. The concrete wall is moved! (Also note Scott Speed in the armchair :rotfl:)

Edit: They say he was doing 280km\h when he hit the wall.

We`ll see, but the annoying part is all the old vids that are gone. Oh, well.

It turns out the late pope John Paul II signed Kubicas helmet, and it is now explained as a holy miracle by the Catholics. Whatever it was, it is pretty impressive to (almost) walk away from that.

Don Cherry made the comment during the Stanley Cup that taking fighting out of hockey, would be like taking crashes out of racing.

At the time he had on a suit that makes Michael Irvin look conservative.

People love the crashes, they don't want to see anybody get hurt, but want the spectacular smash-up, then see the person walk away.

Congrats on the Stanley Cup going to California:up: Don Cherry's quite the lad:a suit for every occasion.

yea fyi.. i just read that kubica was lucky.... cuz when the car stopped people could see his feet sticking out thru the front of the car....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/6755041.stm

"He was lucky to escape without further injury especially as his feet could be seen through the sheared off front end of the vehicle."
