A brilliant game at its time IMO and should deffinitely be a Classic.
Great music too, which would change depending on thermal layer.
I had a nice CD version.
But because it wouldn't work on 98 I through it out - unfortunately.Stupid.:-?
Others I've played are Silent Service 2 - remember the cool midi music on the old SB Pro cards? -
very flotilla specific....I can still hear it...Brass passages swelling up from the bottom -
General Midi didn't hinder that composition.
And that Tom Clancey thing - can't remember the name of it - but it was more like an interactive action movie than a sub-sim. Very exciting though - and heavy sound candy - you could hear the torpedos in the water Screaming, and I mean Screamin'! around the sub.
But I had to leave it back - as it wouldn't load anything after mission 4 - and I couldn't find a suitable fix for it on the net.
Very Disappointing - as I was really enjoying it.

Yes! If you don't use a torpedo and don't unload the tube you'll get a hot run. The biggest problem I have with it is when I sink everything I can detect and I'm still not getting an end to some scenarios. SSN-21 Seawolf runs fine under Win98
on my computer.

Howl!!!...
Maybe I'm a bit confused about that - I think it was SSII I couldn't get to run.
I only had Win98 1st Edition.
SSn-21 probably went from my collection for some other PC reason.
I remember some weirdness with that alright.
I think one time - when I set it to display all units, I discovered an Akula way...way...down the map somewhere.

Me! I remember it (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=114450):)
I need to find the Tom Clancy Cd now and load it up. That is probably the game I played the least of all time.

Do you know if Seawolf will run on XP?

Seawolf does run on my P200 Celeron. It works fine when you start it from
Win98 but it runs slightly fast, enough to be noticeable. For XP you'd probably have to run a virtual PC or something along those lines.

Silent Service 2 works fine as long as I choose the PC Speaker. I just install SSN-21 Seawolf and run it. It makes the maps during the first run then the fun starts after that! I'm running Windows 98 OEM 4.10.1998, whatever version that is. I'd like to take on an Akula.

I know i am late on this thread, but SSN 21 Seawolf was an awsome game. the graphics, were sweet, loved the sound, but the best part was the way the missions were set up, it gave you a variety like taking out a hunter killer group to a boomer that was under heavy escort to forcing an ampib task force to hit the ocean floor.
the controls were easy use as well, a big bonus. I have to see if i can find my copy and see how it works on vista.:yeah:
