I just read The Nostradamus Code: World War III predictions revealed
http://www.nostradamusonline.com/

Fact or fiction?
If anyone interested, I could upload it.
Is this guy to be trusted?

I love the cheep marketing.
"Put "code" at the end of your quasi-renaissance book's title and it will sell well" seams to be the idea.

Perhaps they will re-brand the classics in the same way.:hmm:
W.Shakesphere's The Macbeth Code?

Anyhow, this isn't the kind of book to read if you want to learn anything about the real Nostradamus.

Nostradamus was just a 16th Century wreckhead, he used to put his head over a bowl of 'herbs' steaming in hot water and inhale the fumes in order to get his 'revelations'. All the fans who rave on about him rarely point this bit of the story out however, for rather obvious reasons.

Almost all of the 'interpretations' of his stoned writings take huge leaps in logic, twist dates and calendar changes and generally omit bits that don't suit the particular 'prediction' people are trying to engineer (which depending on when their book is printed can involve anything from the Death of Princess Diana to the Gulf War), often they include wildly innaccurate translations and huge leaps across gaps of continuity too. You'd probably get a more accurate prediction of when a war was going to start from a joke in a Christmas cracker.

And considering that he could supposedly predict the future, you'd think if that was the case Nostradamus might have pointed out to his wife and children that the plague was coming, so they wouldn't die from it, as they did. After all, the plague was hardly a minor event.

Utter rubbish, and not only that, utter French rubbish too.

Every decade or so a new book on Nostradamus comes out, showing how he predicted the latest global catastophe. The only problem is the same sections seem to change with each release, so the old 'latest catastrophe' is gone, replaced by the newest one.

I think the guy was talking about events in his own time, and his modern fans keep 'proving' he was right.

Yep - Sailor Steve hit it on the head. Nostrodomus spoke in such cryptic language that his predictions could practically be used for any point in history. I guess we could all learn something for him though and it is 'not' his predictions about the future, it is his art of generalization! You could find a way to say something to make yourself right in any argument, in which case you just say, 'I told you so' at any point it is to your advantage! :D

Must go study this man now.......:know:

Did he predicted 9/11

remeber reading it mind you soon after 9/11 alot of predictions from nostradmas started it got a bit crazy.

The two towers shall fall, waking the sleeping giant (america) whom shall go to war (wait for it hold on to your seat) and conquer its enemies! Then the 3rd beast shall rise where the war to end all wars shall commense.

but another i read:

After the two towers within 12yrs from that date the world will turn to fire (nuclear war?:hmm:)

Between 1900 and 2012, Three beasts or antichrist will rise. We have already seen two.

Amen...

Don Rosa is awesome.

Seriously, though - no, he's not to be trusted. It's ridiculously easy to shoehorn passages so that they sound like prophecies for actual events (for an example, see how this guy shoehorns Biblical texts so that it appears like the Bible says Napoleon was the real Messiah (http://www.fstdt.com/winace/napoleon_messiah.htm)).

Did he predicted 9/11In short: No. Hoax. Forgettaboutit.

I don't know if I'm an expert on Nostradamus, but I have red many books about his life and lots of his predictions.

It is very "easy" to find a line/sentence in a Quatrain that says just what you need, to confirm a thing(terror etc) that just has happened, but noone have yet showed a Quatrains saying "-look here we are about to...." and it happen.

It has been lots of Nostradamus before and after, one more spectacular than the other.

How I came to Nostradamus? From the Bible I love to studying the bible that's how I ran into this person.

Nostradamus actually predicted this thread you know. Look at this in Quatrain 67, written in 1543 on a Powerbook, which Nostradamus was able to construct from the blueprints he drew up after having predicted the Macintosh:

'And when the twin URLs commence their 1337ness,
loud will be the bleeping from the ADSL modem,
then from the skies shall issue electromagnetic radiation,
and wireless routers will speak forth in tongues of text chat M8
For I am the roXXor, you noobs.'

I've only seen his name on the newspapers they sell at the check out counters.

He must sell a lot of papers, but he doesn't make sense to me and Jesus does.

The Lord gave me a prophecy the other day, "Keep your eyes on the heavens ... Something big is about to happen"

Do you think I will be on the front covers of the tabloids if something big happens?

*Edit:* I just found out online that the reason he chose Nostredame as his surname was because the same day he converted to Catholicism was also the "saint day" for Mary.

Actually, the Soviets and the United States abandoned MAD in favor of NUT in the 1970's and 1980's. Reagan and Cap Weingerger were it's the leading proponents in the United States. We are still using NUT today although we are the only superpower, or maybe I should say because we are the only superpower. Carter was a believer in MAD, but as a protege of Rickover he would be.

Congress confirmed how NUTs we are, when they gave Bush (who can't even pronounce it) the right to use Nuclear Weapons in his "War on Terror".

Cruise Missles, the B-1 Bomber, and the B-2 Bomber are all NUT weapons.
