Easiest Photo Recon yet !

Was given a photo recon of "Carrier group in Palu"

OMG I thought, its suicide, hell I dont even know how they get a carrier in there its so shallow !

But we went for it anyhow.

Creeping in towards the harbor in broad daylight @ 1:00 pm at around 100 foot depth keeping track of the pickets which more than once passed directly overhead.

Eventually the pickets (three of them) patterns took them all a fair distance from me so we ordered periscope depth and popped up the O scope for a quick peek around. I scanned the horizion when I saw much to my supprise a Carrier way in the distance parked in the shallows. I clicked off one 1 1 1 :cool: ! photo of the Carrier and got a mission complete.

We immediatly reversed course went back down to 100 feet and creeped back out. We never even got into the shallows and had pulled it off !

I would have snapped pictures and then sunk it once mission complete :)

I guess I should have added that it was at the end of a long patrol. Four missions all told.

I had exhausted my supply of munitions (zero torpedoes and precious few rounds of deck gun ammo).

Otherwise Yea I woulda fired a few off at her.

Now there's a brave captain. To do this with no real amount of munitions.

i bet mine was easier, in V1.1, i was docked at the Phillipenes, and my target was to Photo op the 'carrier fleet' in the Phillipenes, by manilia, (it was just a seaplane tender and a tiny carrier without a tower structure, so i just left the dock, and took some pictures, before sinking them both!

Mine was even easier.

Completed my first patrol (the starting base at Manilla was subsequently lost, so I had to dock at Suribya).

My next mission was to photgraph enemy shipping in Suribya - my new home base!

So, I just raised the periscope and photographed a US freighter at the next jetty - mission completed.

Next message - congratulations, we are rolling out new subs, do you want to take command of one?
