What i said on t'other thread

I thought she was great :)

Finally, someone had the guts to strip away the pretence of fame. She had no talents worthy of fame, but was still a star. (I've seen the video, nothing special, she looks bored and uninterested)
Thats the emerging nature of celebrity these days, unfortunately most attention whores are singing/acting/posing. Pretending fame and celebrity were an unhappy byproduct of their "art". Paris Hilton, Occupation: Being Paris Hilton. Endy Story

But hey she showed up two days early. That shows good will. That probaly means she'll get out 15 days early. She might have gotten a kick in the butt that most celebrities dont get, but she still gets given credit for doing the things we're all expected to do.

I say they should force her to do community service with poor people and losers that are still stuck wearing 80s fashion. Theres a real punishment.

Air it on TV. Call it "Running Blond". After weeks of hot and heavy girl on girl sniper battles only one air head will walk out of the maze. After applause and ginger ale Noel Gallagher walks up to the winner and shoots her in the head and immediately ALice Cooper appears on a stage, starts playing and takes the body and throws it into the crowd and everybody gets to go home with little pieces of celebrity.

How was that considered a normal amount of time when she was originally sentenced to 45 days in jail? This of course was dropped to 23 days. Now she's out with 5 days served to go on house arrest for 40 days. Yea, like that's real punishment for someone as well off as she is. Never the less its the normal amount of jail time for a sentence of this kind.

Quote from article on MSNBC.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19091578/)
Officers arrested Hilton in Hollywood on Sept. 7. In January, she pleaded no contest to the reckless-driving charge and was sentenced to 36 months’ probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.

She was pulled over by California Highway Patrol on Jan. 15. Officers informed Hilton she was driving on a suspended license and she signed a document acknowledging she was not to drive. She then was pulled over by sheriff’s deputies on Feb. 27, at which time she was charged with violating probation.
What put her in jail was violation of her probation, not the reckless driving charge. On top of that, she basically thumbed her nose at the justice system not once, but twice. Violating probation usually puts you in jail for more than couple of days.

I don't think its by any means a joke. She has broken the law, and a pretty big one at that. She got pulled over after they took her license, not once, but twice! She snubbed her nose at the system, so now the system is returning the favor. I would not be let out of jail. I'd be left to rot. Health problems or not! Why should she be any different? This is not a joke, but a message to people in power that no matter how influential they are, they are not above the law! It doesn't matter if you are Goerge Bush or Paris Hilton, you can and will go to jail if you break the law.

Here's a thought; the 0900 phone conference with the judge did indeed occur and he remanded Paris to the LA County jail to finish her term. Why else would you need three patrol units and six deputies at the scene? Mommy arrived to help Paris put on her make-up for another photo and get back to jail.

No, basically when you get suspended for driving while intoxicated, you lose your privilege to drive, not your right to drive. It's called DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED. I bet if somebody crammed into your car while DWS and their insurance company refused coverge based on the fact that they hadn't met the criteria of being a liscensed driver, you'd be pretty purturbed.

In the state of Missouri, three DWS can be stacked to end up as a Felony and that is pretty serious stuff.

Ms. Hilton decided that the rules did not apply to her. She continued to drive. She ignored warning after warning. This is really simple stuff. People get locked up all the time for misd. charges.

Welcome to real life. Here is the statutory authority for this:

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=veh&group=23001-24000&file=23152-23229.1

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d06/vc13352.htm

It is a big deal, and it ain't about the judge, except the Judge ORDERED her to serve sentence, and the sheriff decided he didn't have to.

You better check out different classes of misdomeanors. There is a big difference between driving drunk, having your license suspending and being put on probation, going out and driving again against your probation (and getting caught), getting let off the hook the first time, and then doing it again and getting caught AGAIN! THis shows absolutely no respect for the law or athority, and is a violation of her probation. If I had to guess, there are probably multiple counts of misdomeaners in here. This is no longer a simple driving with suspended license issue.

Now the real meat - How many times did she drive drunk before getting caught? The national average is 80 times, so at least 80 times she has endangered other peoples lives, but I suspect more because she drives a Mercedes, and cops no matter how much you want to deny it, are biased. Drive a nice car and they don't notice you as much.

Add on here how many times she violated her suspended license and how many times did she violate her probation before getting caught too?

You are dealing with someone who has no respect of law, no respect of authority, thinks they are above the law, continually breaks it, and endangers peoples lives on a whim!

And you were talking about spitting on the sidewalk?

Shes a public nuasiance and needs to be taught that negative consequnces accompany criminal behavior.

No, much earlier:

Despite being ordered to serve the remainder of her original 45-day sentence, Hilton could still be released early. Inmates are given a day off their terms for every four days of good behavior, and her days in home detention counted as time served.

Which is okay if that is what the law says, and is practised by routine. That girlie is a top-class nerve-killer, but being a nerve-killer is not enough for treateing somebody with "extraordinary cruelty" :) ...

The order has Hollywood wondering if the time in jail will be a shot in the arm, a kick in the pants, or just too much for a woman whose image is built on being a naughty girl and a spoiled brat, reports CBS News correspondent Bill Whittaker.

“I hope jail is a time for her to stop and listen and think,” says Hollywood publicist Howard Bragman. “And you know, sometimes kids need a time out. Paris needs a time out. And the public needs a time out from Paris.”

What I find sad is that she looks like she can't believe that this is happening to her! I mean really, what is she expecting? She screwed up 3 times on the same thing (third times a charm right?) and she still can't believe it when bad things happen to her for it.

My point is, what kind of children are we raising up in this world? Paris is the perfect example of how a child growing up in a phycs version of a purely positive environment is a whacked out idea! They have no idea that negative things can happen to them. They have no idea how the real world works. We have created a generation of adult brats.

Last time I was in a toy store buying a toy for my little neice, they have toys called Bratz! WTH? We now idolize being a brat?

Is there another planet I can go live on? This ones messed up.
