Some questions...

Hello all!
I've SH4 patched at 1.3 and this is my problem:

I would like to see my subs (late war) painted in grey (horizontal surfaces), but all subs (Balao and Gato first) look all with the old all black paint. [museum shows them with the grey pattern I would like to see in mission-career). How can I manage that? Is these a cfg or something file I could work on?

Second I'd like to know how to equip my Balao with 2x 5' sub guns (actually I get only the option of a bow OR stern 3' or 4'...) How do I place 2 of them, and how do i get the 5'? [again, in museum section the sub is depicted as I'd like it to use)

To answer your questions:

1) The stock game comes with all subs in black. In reality somewhere in 1942/1943, US subs got the grey color you speak of. In the mod (modification) forum you can find alternative skins for balao and gato that have the new colors.


2) Regarding guns, you can upgrade them as you work your way through the game. The caliber and the amount of guns differed per sub and changed throughout the war. In the game, you can acquire these heavier weapons through 'renown'. You gain 'renown' by performing the special missions (which are optional, not mandatory), torpedoing warships and in general by torpedoing a large tonnage of shipping.

Just as an FYI, you'll have most succes when staying submerged, not by firing your gun. That's only for desperate times.

So:

-5' guns will be available during the game, I was wondering if I could equip my very first sub with them, but the list depicts only 3' and 4'... the 5' will become available after some time or what?

-double deck guns: I've seen that there are options for both a foreward and backwards gun position (not AA, I'm referring to deck guns), but I can place one only..

-I'll look foreward for some mods about the skins but I just can't understand why there are those I like in the "museum" section units while the entire game presents just the black ones!
