Me too. I'm also planning to get started with some mods of my own once 1.3 is out. :)

You can uninstall with JSGME your current mods when the patch comes out, then try them afterwards to see what ones work, try a few at a time as to pinpoint any problems.

Hopefully they take their time with the patch, chances are there won't be others.

The only mod I've put in my version was the one to change the active command buttons on the bottom left from yellow to green when active.

Oh! and I've also edited my contacts file and 5 days out from Perth and not a single contact by radio ... all contacts have been physical! Wooh Hoo!

Currently I just use texture mods that do not conflict with new code. I also use the JSGME program. Simply an awesome tool.

Why wait? Patch 1.3 could be months away. Use JSGME and run all the mods you want with patch 1.2. Then when 1.3 comes out, uninstall them all in about ten seconds. Once they become compatible with 1.3, download them and enable them again.

Mostly because I don't really feel a pressing need to change that much about the game. Not yet anyway. :)

There are some great mods:up: One member I think has over 2 gigs worth in JSGME.
But to each his own.

Good Hunting.

The only MOD that interests me is the Patrol MOD but it looks like 1.3 will correct the stuff that MOD fixes. I also like the idea of a captains cabin area of the sub where I can go between actions. So I'm hoping someone develops that MOD further. I know people have tried working on it but its not there yet.

Mods change stuff that may make it imcompatible, if this happens the modders usually fix it and post a new version, no worries :yep:

I think you may be the first person that is asking what is so great about the 1.3 patch.
There are still some glaring bugs ( see the bugs thread ) that need to be fixed, lets hope 1.3 does the job so modders can do the rest.

To put it in a nutshell

1.) We have no idea how long it will be untill we see 1.3

2.) There are many mods that add alot to the game.

3.) Ill probably do a full clean re-install once 1.3 is released.

Why would I wait ?

With the excellent JSGME mod enabler, anyone can now add and removed mods quickly and easily. I added another mod a few hours ago, and from the time of my selecting it, downloading it, extracting it, placing it in the mods folder and finally enabling it in JSGME was less than 60 seconds.

The answer to your question regarding patch 1.3 is that the Devs will be making significant code changes within the game, and the modders will need to assess how these code changes effect their mods. In some cases the changes won't touch existing mods, and in some cases they certainly will.

Therefore, when patch 1.3 comes out, anyone wishing to install it and use mods should disable all their current mods and then install patch 1.3 and wait for the 1.3 version of the mods to become available.

I haven't DL most of the mods 'cause there hosted on sites I can't access; filefront I get errors just going to that site, an another I get timed out all the time, an another always says this file is no longer avalible. Rapidshare is one I can access an to think it's associated with warez.......... GO FIGURE.........

If you are having trouble with d\l a file, post and chances are it will be uploaded to alternate site. Of note, have d\l many mods, very few problems.

Why wait?

Exactly. 1.3 sounds like a good reason for a complete reinstall at any rate. The question is not so much to mod or not to mod 1.2 (IMHO, without some of these mods it's not really playable anyway), but rather should I play it at all or put the game aside until 1.3 comes out?

I'm going with the latter. SH3 will tide me over til then.

I agree why hold out when you can try the mods out and see which ones you like and want to keep. The JSGME is a real gem that keeps your mods in one place and without all the hassle of manually doing it.

For me, patched to 1.2 and with about 6 mods, this game is perfectly playable and enjoyable. When patch 1.3 comes out, I'll download it but I'll wait a while before installing it.
