Is there some problem with the metric conversion?

Where I have the 'set depth' in the torpedo setting, the dial goes all the way to 50... is this 50 Feet? because I doubt its 50 metres. Attacking a 7.5metre keel jap merchant I set my torps to 7.8ish.... way to high.... I try again at 9... way to high, then tried at 11... still didnt even go under the keel. These are the Mk14 torpedoes, but seems too consistent to be a depth running problem with the torp.

This may be discussed somewhere else, but I can't find it, and an answer or a link to the answer would be great :sunny:

From what I understand the torpedo depth setting remains in metric regardless of your game settings.

They tend to run a bit deeper than you expect.

When you say 'remain in metric' do you mean 'remain in Imperial?'

I can't get them to run deep enough

If the settings remain mostly in Imperial, then whats the point in having a metric setting :damn:

EDIT: This is currently being discussed in 'Deffinitive torpedo depth/impact setting' thread thats currently active. So a moderator can lock this off if they wish. And cheers also Steamwake :)

From what I understand... If you choose imperial units as your game option the torpedo depth setting on the TDC remains in metric.

Most of the complaints I have seen is that the torpedoes run a bit deeper than you set them. Which is contrary to what your saying.

Are you sure your setting the depth and not the gyro offset by accident ?

Im set to metric, and after a quick load to be sure, im setting the right dial. The dial goes all the way to '50', as someone in another thread mentioned, thats 200ft if thats '50' metres.

So from what i'm seeing, the setting to either metric or imperial, leaves the game torp depth seting in Imperial. Making the recognition manual worthless in metric. Kinda sad as reading things in imperial is like having someone speak to me in french, I have got no idea whats being said.

This is discussed in further detail by other users here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=115753&page=2

No the Metric and imperial dials both go to 50 and the metic dial has to be set to a significantly lower number than on the imperial dial. So they are correct.

Ya well I guess O'Kane sucked then, I don't see why they even made metric an option. It isn't in SH3.
