Turning the clock back a bit gameplay wise, but this game (http://www.malinche.net/endgameblog.html) sounds interesting in a role playing context.

"Command decisions will confront you at every turn. Should you sink a suspected al qaeda vessel speeding towards a potential target? Or run interdiction and deploy SEAL Team 3 to board the craft and let them handle it? As is the case with real life, your command decisions can have world-changing consequences that can either win the day or sink your ship at every turn."

Uses Frotz(Z Code). Thats what portion of Zork was made with. You can pick up a few interactive games to include Zork 1, 2, 3, Planetfall, Starcross and Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy for free. This is one of those "They're charging for that!" games.
