Freeing Space

I was trying to free up some memory on my computer, so I tried to uninstall Company of Heroes but soon after I clicked the "remove" button, an error message popped up: Error 1327.Invalid Drive: F:\

Can anybody help me with this problem? Should I just go into the root folder and manually delete the game from there?

Open up the rego - Start - Run - type in Regedit then hit enter, rego is open go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder and look for the Company of Heroes rego found under the developers name so if its Ubisoft then look for the ubisoft name click on the + sign and delete the COH folder.

Thanks Kiwi, I followed your instructions and found the CoH folder, then deleted it (although I did find 3 different folders for SH4 which is unnerving... I'm afraid to delete any of them as I do not know which is the "real" folder. :-?). Would you mind telling me exactly what deleting the registry entry does and why it is important? Just curious.

Many programs check the registry to see if and where a game is installed. For example, the games setup .exe will check the registry, if you haven't deleted the entries it will think the game is still installed. In some cases this can be a problem.
It's just good practice to delete them really, it helps keep your PC tidy and healthy.

Don't worry too much about the multipel silent hunter entries.
The only thing that might happen is they might cause the default installation directory for some mod .exe s to be incorrect.

Be careful when editing the registry if you are not sure what you are changing, if you make a mistake it can be hard to fix.

DO NOT MESS WITH THE REGISTRY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE!!!!!!
As for invalid drive, first run chkdsk, repair all and then try uninstall:
Control planes>Add/remove programs...
Do not discard any error messages for any drive....:|\\

@Letum: I checked the file paths of the three SH4 entries. They all have different names. They are 1) Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific, 2) Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific, 3) SilentHunter4. I then looked in the Ubisoft folder, and found that the only SH4 folder in there is called Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific, so I figured I should delete the other 2 entries, however, upon closer examination there was a "+" sign before the Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific entry. I clicked it and I found entries called 1.01 and 1.02, which I assumed to be the patches (even though that is NOT the folder name in the Ubi folder). There were no patch entries for any of the other SH4 entries. So I didn't delete anything just to be on the safe side.

Am I just overthinking this? It isn't really that big of a deal if I don't delete them, right?

Deleting registry keys will free you, say, 0.000000001% of HDD space...

You can use a soft like CCleaner to get more free space on HD and to clean registry base, it is free

Don't delete any of those.

GakunGak is right. If it's not causing a problem leave the registry alone or get System Mechanic or Advanced System Optimizer or something that autmatically fixes when you run checks. They all have undo's if something goes amiss. ASO is about the best out their according to PC World and it's also one of the cheapest at $29.99. Thats what I use just because I want a clean house.

I used that and cleared 4 gigs of HD space :D. I now have 18 gigs free on a 144 gig drive. That's up from only TWO gigs free a couple days ago. Thanks for the help everyone.

You can make a registry backup before you tweak - i always have a backup. I prefer to tweak manually i dont trust these programs that claim they are experts at cleaning your rego.
