I would be happy if a complete patch which fixed everything took 6 months because i dont think we will be getting another silent hunter game for a while . The devs can finish there beloved subsim the way they wanted it done . Please dont hurry . Isnt SH4 playable now with mods while we wait for a patch . Go play BF2 or something while you wait . :up:

Well I hope to get a new rig in about 4 weeks so I can finaly go and buy SH4 as my old rig a P4 3ghz 512 ram and a 9600xt just won't cut it so as a present to my self for getting a new rig I will buy and install SH4 :arrgh!: so any time after 4 weeks the patch will be welcome

I'm hoping it will be ready when it's ready, and not one second sooner! Better to have a patch 6 months from now that fixes all the major probs without making new ones, than to have one in a month that breaks more than it fixes.

I doubt we'll see 1.4 so I hope they'll take all the time they need to get 1.3 right. If they take the time to fix all the hard-coded bugs without making new ones, then the modders can go from there and build us a sub sim like the world's never seen :up:

Patch making is labor time.

Labor time equals money cost.

UBI is paying the devs to make the patch.

You can bet, they've been given a time limit.

It's one of the reasons for the call to give them a list of the most important serious
hardcoded bugs and cut out the irrelevent or moddable chit chat.

And since UBI wasn't quite sure they wanted to pay for another patch to begin with, you can bet it's "not that much time".

But, I have much faith the devs will give us the things that count.

I'm betting on 4 weeks.

As long as it takes. We might not get a 1.4, so I hope the devs and ubi will let 1.3 simmer long enough to take out as many bugs as possible. And test it to make sure no new bugs come into play, like the mute sonarman bug of SH3 1.3 :)

I've never seen SH devs announce a due date for a patch. They only announce when they are working on it, and when it's done. Everthing else you hear is speculation and impatience. It does no good to get wound up about how long it takes or get excited about how perfect the game will be in the next patch. Everyone will miss getting their personal favorite little peeve satisfied.

This is a significant patch, and it may well be the last patch for SH4. The longer the Devs have to work on it the better. There is no ETA for patch 1.3 at this time.

I agree. The patrol mod gives acceptable fixes for three of the worst problems (date line bug, improper career end and repetitive patrols.) Other mods make various details of the game more enjoyable or even semi-address some imo minor AI issues. I'm perfectly happy with waiting for a good, solid, all-encompassing 1.3.
