This is just my opinion, Guys, but I believe that the Silent Hunter series could possibly end with Silent Hunter 4. Ubisoft is doing everything that a company that is looking to end a franchise would do in my opinion.
If that proves to be the case, then independent on-line sub sim development like http://dangerdeep.sourceforge.net/ (http://dangerdeep.sourceforge.net/) may well be the future for us.
The advantages here are that with the devs not having to deal with the 'suits' and the BS that comes with them, and in fact getting to deal with the real sub simmers who will actually play the game, the resulting game should be well tested, not buggy, and easily moddable.
The main downside would be how long it would take to fully develop a game this way.
What do you guys think?
