Hi everyone. I wanted to let you know that subclub: www.subclub.info/wpl/ (http://www.subclub.info/wpl/) has a historical campaign currently in progress for Sh3. the campaign was written by our design team and all the convoys are actual convoys that sailed in WWII. So far we know our campaign is compatible with the commander mod ( any version ), and the most current patches for the game. We also know that its compatible with the GWX mod, if you follow some basic proceedures.

We currently have about 50 active boats, but we have lost about that many as well through kia's and mia's. But we have a great active bunch of players. Its really kewl how we play this campaign. Its single and multiplayer and very interactive with the other players. You pick your boats and the captain you want to play under. The campaign is constantly being upgraded with new stuff, and updates are released from time to time. Its really a blast. Any of you that really get into the historical aspects of this game would really enjoy playing it with us. If you interested, just go to the link above and look under the forums. then click on forum index and scroll down to the forums for the SH3 campaign.

Hope to see you guys on the high seas,,,,

I have been a part of this campaign and it is simply awesome. We are now in March 1941 and I am U-44 Korvettenkapitain Conrad Bergmann having sunk now over 250,000 tons of shipping in 6 patrols. The convoys are very realistic and there will be very many convoys in the coming months here in 1941. We could really use more sub commanders for this campaign as we do have at least 25 in it now. The convoys are getting bigger and some of them contain over 60 ships in them. We can play mulitiplayer with each other if the subs contact the same convoy which is the interesting part. So shadowing does take in effect untill other players find your convoy which will happen as players use the same scripted layer campaign made by Hornet who wrote the campaign. He has made a very concerted effort in doing this and we can have a good time, and some really historic fun as it would b e nice to have 8 subs hitting a convoy. That would be awesome. So come and join the fun. You can email Hornet at usshornet2000@yahoo.com and tell him the Uboat commander you want to use and the sub that is available at this time. you will not be disappointed. We will all help those who need assistance in getting set up with the sh3 Commander Mod which 2.7 is great for.
Hope to see you all on the High Seas to stop the
allied Jaugernaut U-658 out:up:

SubClub is Onkel Neal's other sub site, dedicated to SH2/DC and SH3 multiplayer (and a whole lot of fun threads not necessarily dedicated to submarines). It's a great place if you're into multiplayer subbing.

And if you're not, it's a great place anyway.

I and my son are part of the campaign as well, and I'm here to tell you it's a lot of fun. We also play STATS which are scriped MP single missions. They come in reg SH3 and GWX flavored. So for you GWX guys out there we have something that peaks your interest. Right now the Campaign is play reg SH 3 only as Horent stated above. However if enough GWX players get involved, and stay involved. Horent could be talked into doing a GWX based campaign down the road.

So for now come check out what we have to offer.

One last note on the campaign... It's just not "go to this grid and patrol for 24 hours" We do much more than that. We organize Wolfpacks, stage ambush locations, among other things. Also we do Spec Ops missions as well, which include Harbor raids, photo recons, to name a few. Plus we have a "EYE in the sky" Staffel 12 our own condor pilot who the FC's and BDU will call in for recon of differant targets. You have 3 Flotilla's to choose from and all in France now. Plus we will end and begin new patrols in ports other than your home port. If your boat gets beat up and BDU needs you out again right away.. NP we have another boat ready for you. BDU and the FC's keep the commander at sea as much as possible.

Come see....:hmm: :hmm: You know you wanta:rock:

Not sure what the time frame is now
When I was playing it was something like 1 RL day = 2/3 patrol days

So will be more than a weekend
lol
Something you can do alongside all other games you are playing

Thank you very much for your prompt answer, and if I may say so I agree with the action taken.

No problem guys,

we always try to keep a balance between calling apart discretely someone who is starting to go way off topic and not interfering too much in the threads. It is always much pleasent for everyone when moderators are not constantly jumping in and clsoing threads or warning people, plus some things have a tendency to die by themselves, specifically trolls and spammers. Many of the discussions that have slowly faded or turned civil are in fact the result of a hidden effort by the moderators, talking via PM with the affected ones, though that is unnoticeable for the rest of the forum users, which I think is in fact good.

But nobody can be perfect, so use the PM feature and contact a moderator whenever you want to point out forum rules infractions that have no apparent response from moderators:up:

To answer Fair weather's question. The settings for the campaign are around 70%, Manual Targeting, map updates, Stabize boat are optional everything else is checked. So in short you can play from 100% down to 70% or so for realism.

Hope to see you all soon, come check us out......

fair_weather

70%?!

Gah! I dunno...I'll try it for the hell of it...but don't count on me sinking too many ships...as for convoys...-_-

I'm still a newbie to the whole manual targeting thing...but I'll give it both barrels!

bigboywooly

I went to the web page and briefly looked around but couldn't find a page that told what it was actually all about.

Is it true multi-player online stuff or just a bunch of guys playing their own thing and reporting in what they do?

bigboywooly
05-30-07, 08:47 AM
Basically you are assigned a flotilla
You carry out your patrol as you normally would but reporting in daily plus sinkings
If you come across a convoy and other boats can find that same convoy then you will play a multiplayer wolfpack

Similary if someone else finds a convoy and you are close enough you will be vectored in to see if you can establish contact

If you can then its MP time

Thanks for the interest guys, your wonderful....

I wanted to post a few links that would explain a few things about the campaign and how we play it. These aren't all there is, but it will certainly get you started. Everything the guys said about playing the campaign is true, its really as historical as we can make it. Of course we can't include everything, but we are working on it, and there are constant updates, which we post under our downloads link at the website. It might sound complex when you first read the threads that I'm posting, but its really quite simple. Just think about how the Atlantic campaign was waged during the war, take a few things away, and thats how we play it. Its not perfect, but once you get into it and find out there is a 50 or 60 ship convoy spotted by one or your fellow commanders just 50 kilometers to your north or south, the goose bumps pop up on your back..and you are hooked for good.....and then we usually send you to that spot "hell bent for leather" to find it also.....When we organize the wolfpacks, we center them around a single line of boats in the path of expected convoys, then when someone finds one, well, lets just say the radio message board in the forums comes "alive" with chatter....:/\\k: everyone wants a piece of the convoy....:yep: :yep: .... we have lost a lot of brave crews already, and I won't mention names here, but one guy is going to be pealing potatoes for a while for loosing 5 boats so far....:damn: , but we still have plenty left.....

Here is a posting about the settings we play at:

http://subclub.info/phpBB_subclub/viewtopic.php?t=15103

General ideas behind the campaign, how we got started with it and how we decided to play it:

http://subclub.info/phpBB_subclub/viewtopic.php?t=14916

First uboats assigned and their status:

How we keep track of the war days played and actual days ratio:

http://subclub.info/phpBB_subclub/viewtopic.php?t=16792

Then we wanted to keep a record of all the action so far in the campaign. I decided to record this information in such a way as to give credit to the commanders that did "great" things, and also give the "high points" and "low points" of our campaign as it unfolds....So I told the story in a war diary,,,,kind of cheezy maybe, but I think its pretty well done and the players love seeing their names in here....:|\\

http://subclub.info/phpBB_subclub/viewtopic.php?t=16683

I don't want to give away everything we have in store for wolfpack league ( subclub ) and this campaign. But you can expect "everything" you can emagine.....air battles overhead between British and German aircraft, bombing raids on your ports later in the war, iceburgs for those boats sailing out of Norway attacking convoys bound for Russia, Assistance from A.I subs, and all kinds of other little goodies....Hell, the design team is already working on the second campaign perhaps starting next year. We are always thinking ahead,,,,;)

But all that we have discussed here is just the campaign.....This only scratches the surface of what www.subclub.info/wpl/ (http://www.subclub.info/wpl/) has to offer. We have monthly stat missions in multiplayer ( outside the campaign ) where players can compete with subs from around the world. These missions are written by our own design team and change each month for variety. So come join us everyone, but please if your joining the campaign, follow the links above and make sure you put "uboat request" in the title of the email so I know what its for...

Hope to see you....
