Hi All,

The year is 1942, September. Me and my crew still have "a year to survive" to put our hands on the shiny VIIC/41 typ U-boot... The BdU tells us nothing... We are wondering if the new boat's hull looks EXACTLY the same as our VIIC... (the same 3d model? )

Well???

From u-boat net:

Type VIIC/41 was a slightly modified version of the successful VIIC and had basically the same engine layout and power. Armament was the same with 5 torpedo tubes (4 at the bow and one at the stern). The biggest difference was that these boats had a stronger pressure hull giving them more depth to evade attack under (operational 120m and crush depth at 250m against VIIC's 100/200). They also had lighter machinery to compensate for the added steel in the hull making them actually slightly lighter than the VIIC. All the type VIIC/41 boats from U-1271 (http://uboat.net/find_boat.php3?find_boat=1271) onwards had the mine fittings deleted.

So I do think they are much the same, just a deeper dive. :hmm:

Cheers for a quick answer! However, I am aware of this already. By asking about the hull's shape I ment the difference in the forward deck: there's no deck gun but the deck is a bit wider than VIIC's and the four rescue hatches present. I hoped those were present in the VIIC/41 model in SH3...

Am I wrong?

PS. Is there a way I could extract the model, edit it in 3d Studio Max and put back into the game??? Just for private purposess of course...:know:

Yes, it's the same model as the VIIC.

Unless you use this one;) - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=107315&highlight=viic%2F41

Read the instructions regarding installation. This is not a new model but rather an edit of the existing VIIC and you must disable the VIIC/41 when wanting to use the VIIC.

Also, if you don't like the colouring and want the default grey skin re-enabled, do the following....

1)Delete all the TGA files located in the Textures/TNormal/tex folder.
2)Then put this file into that folder. http://www.mediafire.com/?9nnmitnwzmw

The model (VIIC originally) has already been editted. All you need do is change the skin if your not happy with the initial colour. (as pointed out in Dans last post :yep:

I'm going to ask a stupid question here so bear with me:oops: can any sub skins that are JSGMEnabled be used on cobalts C/41,or cause they are for the games version of the C/41 will they conflict.basically Iam asking, can I put a fubar skin on this or does it have to be modded to fit the new model by cobalt, got there in the end;)

Not a stupid question mate.

All VIIC skins will work with this boat BUT the file download I have listed above here contains a small texture file for the 'canisters' on the forward deck. It will revert it back the defualt grey so if you want to use a dark skin you will need to make the texture darker to match the skin you're using.
