I am operating out of pearl, am currently SE of Honshu and I repeatedly have gotten reports of "task forces" within easy striking distance. My questions are - why do 3 destroyers escorting a single column consisting of another DD and then 2 large old passenger carriers. More importantly - why does this convoy spawn repeatedly and numerously? Since starting to play sh4 I have seen probably 3 dozen of these things! They have to be "random" spawns vs scripted.

When I see task force reported - I think of the massive BB and CV stocked groups that make a sub skipper ready to push his boat to score a major victory.

Right now - I have had 3 of the dinky "task forces" all pass within about 150 miles of my chosen hangout - in a 24 hour period! Thats absurd!

Is anyone else seeing these "TF" groups? For the record - I am still in the March of 42, running only 1.2 with RFB 1.22 (yes I know I should update - lemme finish this patrol first!) I did however see them with stock 1.2 as well, so I dont think its anything in RFB. (I am not sure RFB even modifies the layers).

Thanks in Advance.

Yeah I've seen them. Four DD's and two huge european liners for me. My guess is they're 'task forces' because they have more warships than merchants.

Thanks Bane - that confirms it then - there is something in the layers causing them. They are just too numerous and to annoying for me to deal with. I spend precious full to find THAT? Looks like I may have to look into that automated script editor and modify these buggers.

If I can figure out how to work the thing!

Firstly, RFB doesn't modify campaign traffic (other than the Aleutians stuff that was added) except in terms of how often the convoys are reported.

The game's actual task forces have up to 20+ ships, but I think the small TFs are, like Bane says, other random groups (possibly troop convoys) that get the TF label because they happen to have more escorts than merchants.
