SAN FRANCISCO, May 17 (Reuters (http://www.nytimes.com/mem/MWredirect.html?MW=http://custom.marketwatch.com/custom/nyt-com/html-companyprofile.asp&symb=RTRSY)) — Regulators have approved the Apple iPhone for sale in the United States, paving the way for the device to be sold by the wireless unit of AT&T (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/business/companies/at_and_t/index.html?inline=nyt-org) in late June...
Oh dear. The crapple fanbois will be wetting themselves as of course Apple have just invented the mobile phone. NOBODY else thought of a phone that can play music and do emails of course. How innovative.

Although I disagree with the above tone, I do concede that there seems to be an almost feverish reverence for anything that has that Apple logo anymore, regardless of the features of the competitors. Apple's greatest success seems to be in marketing.
Last year they invented the optical mouse to much fanfare and crying by Jobs.
The fact is crapple basically take ideas that have been on the market for years already, shove a picture of an apple on it, hold a jazzy press conference, get the boss to cry a bit and persuade the fanbois its a revolution in technology and how cutting edge they are.
Rarely if ever have they managed to create something unique and innovative on their own.
Even their prized operating system is 90% written by others and branded.

I'd have to agree with you. Their big thing was LISA way back when which was replaced by an inferior product called Mac. After that, nothing really inovative. They just know how to make things look good and also have a powerhouse marketing department.
OSX is Unix by the way - not an Apple invention - they just made the GUI - hence made it look good.

Because Microsoft does exactly the opposite
These are very sharp little gadgets. I hope they become available here up north before too long! Can't wait to get my hands on one.

Hahahaha! :rotfl: No! MS doesn't because they lack the style and marketing of Apple. Of course stealing and using other peoples technology is a similar tactic of the big MS!
