First, let's remember the original version:

Then came the desecrated Guido-shoots-first-and-misses version:

Finally, I present you the "commemorative" "Hexology" version:

:-? :nope: :damn:
Needs more shooting! :damn:
lmao at that last one.
Solo was always meant to be a bit cold when he pre emptively disposes of greedo, that was the whole point of introducing his character at that time in the film and that scene showing the sort of 'roguish' dealings he was involved in.
Damn you George, for spoiling those precious memories I have of a youth spent watching Star Wars so many times that I can practically quote it verbatim. I saw one of the latest reincarnations/remasters or whatever, and there were some lines of dialogue that just didn't fit with how I've always known star wars to be.
He should have been happy with touching up some of the post production effects and cleaning up the sound a bit and left it at that.
Rumour has it that George Lucas has brought out the rights for some of Hitchcocks old films and is remaking them, the first of the films he's been working on is the classic Psycho.
Here's a clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqGPQijD9D0) from it
Also, the added bonus - "Passage to Aldershot." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Wocg88DS_M)

When Psycho was mentioned in the same sentence as George Lucas, I thought I was going to see "Janet Leigh stabbed first!"; but that was much funnier.:rotfl:
Lucas is a dick. If he stuck to the stories he originally copied them from like hidden fortress instead of making some disney type pap people might watch some of the later movies.
This thread has made me angry:damn:

I got the first sentence, and agreed too. The rest, well, I guess I'm lucky that I'm not really able to understand British slang. I'm would need a translator to understand that.

??? Pap=rubbish, the rest is a reference lo Lucas ripping off story lines from Kurosawas films. Perhaps punctuation would have helped:oops: . Trouble is a bottle of red makes me type faster but not better.

That's the first person shooter version. I do wish he would quit micro managing the movies though, it reminds me of something else.:damn:

If you watch the updated version and keep clicking on .53 enough, you can see his head shift to the left to avoid the shot, its quite funny.

Speaking of Shatner.. I always get a kick out of this remake:

Such a good sense of humor (even if he is Canadian:p). That movie Free Enterprise was pretty funny too. The Star Trek fanbois first meet him while he's checking out porn mags. He plays himself.

Nice catch, and if you look at 00:53 of the original one you'll find a hilariously crappy dummy of Greedo.

Just like Lucas ripped Tora Tora Tora for teh Death Star attack scenes. Well maybe not Tora Tora Tora exactly but numerous films of IJN attacks on US ships.
Oh I like Pulp but this Shatner version was great. The comments on youtube are even better. Some people really don't get it do they?

The movie you are thinking of is "The Bridges at Toko Ri".
In takes place during the Korean War.
In the artistic world, ripping something off is called an homage.
You could just as easily say that Gunter Grass's "The Tin Drum" and John Irving's "A Prayer for Owen Meany" both ripped off J.M Barrie's "Peter Pan".
The science fiction genre is espcially noted for author writing books in response to another author's thoughts in his book. Therefore, it would be ignorant to say that Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" rips off Robert Heinlien's "Starship Troopers".
Also, Lucas has a great love for Japan and Japanese Culture, so it is little wonder Kursawa was one of his influences.

Also, Akira Kurasawa was a great fan of western culture. His Yojimbo is based on Dashiell Hammet's mystery novel Red Harvest. It was remade by Sergio Leone as A Fistful Of Dollars, which in turn was remade by Walter Hill as Last Man Standing, thus returning it to its 1930s roots.
I've never seen the redux of the films until today actually. Star Wars episode 4 went on a TV channel, and personally i despised the whole Mos Eisley part. All the background effects added, much digitalization... grr.. old movies have charm to make up for lack of special effects. But now his just ruining both parts, remove the charm and and add some crappy CGI effects... ARGH!
Personally I think it a markeding scheme. They digitalize the versions now, and sell them. And then in 5 years or so they once again release "The original" SW, thereby making even more money!
