If you receive the message that we are being pinged, does this mean they know your depth and bearing?
Does it make since to stay under “run silent” when you’re getting pinged?
I’ve submerged to 120m, all stop, rig for silent, facing the escorts and waited for the screen to pass. Got the message we were being pinged, stayed silent and stopped. Depth charges in the water… Boom they land right on my conning tower. Luckly I have great uninsured U-boat coverage.

Don't sit still, when on silent just run at 2knots or 1knot and go deep as you can,as the saying goes,RUN silent RUN deep, don't be a sitting duck.;)

They pinging us means
they are getting your depth and current location
the best tactic, if you dont wanna get your submarine beeing a total mess is to wait till the pinging stop, then there will be a Message WASSERBOMBE!
now FLANK speed , change bearing and change depth, when you hear the explosions just go back to 2 knts and keep changing course, if your lucky the Destoyer will keep dropping Depth charges on the last known location.
also try to keep that Destroyer on a 0 or 180 Bearing so then you are on a low profile for the ASDIC to spot you.
No. That message doesn't mean they have a lock on you. It's a clue that they may, but they may not.
If the pings start coming very fast I will usually go to flank.
I wouldn't stop, even at that depth. I know you are waiting but at a knot and a half you're not going to move very far. But even that little bit should make you a tougher target. Also if you have to go to flank to avoid a drop you'll already be moving and can get to speed faster.

I agree
I prefer to play with external cam on for screenies and beta testing purposes (well thats my excuse anyway) .... So I tend to wait until it's about 200 metres off then open the throttle and set the rudder hard over and planes at a steep dive...when your in his baffles, see which way he turns, turn the opposite way and go to silent running before he's 90 degrees to you :arrgh!:

Read the wiggle-waggle defense but have a few q's.
How do you order the boat to a 100m depth? Now I choose dive then hit "a" at 100m, pain in the butt.
Can you switch the lights to red inside the boat?

Not too many options really...I tend to move the dial to the required depth and use the speed of the boat to determine hoe quickly I want to get there.
The lights in the boat turn red at night for night vision purposes :arrgh!:

My dial only goes to 25m or so?

Like the guy about you said, Stoli, the all 3 gages at the bottom right hand side of your screen are dual-display. There is a little button beside each one of them. Click on it and your depth gage will switch from "shallow mode" (0-25m) to "deep mode", 0-300m. Your gage is currently set to shallow mode, which is why you only see 0-25m.

Some post say, that even the wasserbombes start exploding, they still hear you when going flank, thus giving away your new position.. ?

from what I have experienced
it mostly works as yes they still might hear you, but if you return to silent and creep away you have a higher chance to escape

usually you have about 10 seconds of 'noise' time after the explosion....not really that much time to do much but change course :hmm:
