Well, it is finally coming to pass: Next week, I will be officially awarded my doctorate. Also, I have a university professorship offered to me for the fall, and, as such, I will be leaving the ranks of high school education for greener fields. Best of all, it is still relatively local, and I do not have to move.
I am not sure that anyone really cares, but I just couldn't keep this bottled up any longer. It is not that I hated teaching high school, far from it. It is just that professorship is so very exciting to me.

Congratulations TAK!!! Are you going to Lehigh? As I recall that is very close to Allentown. I spent my college days in Western PA.

No, I go to another university. For privacy's sake I won't say, but my brother went to Lehigh for graduate school. That is a wonderful campus.

Oh wow, that is pretty cool! So you will be Takada Shingen, moderator, AND Professor! Go forth and teach. :)
Very nice, congrats on that and good luck in the future career!
I'm hoping to follow down the same path within the next few years (I will start applying for doctoral programs this fall, hopefully).

Doc Tak. I can see this being good-naturedly abused in the future. 'We have set you up with an appointment with...the doctor' **Cue jarring music**
Congratulations:up: Being myself universitarian and also with post-university studies I can appreciate the wealth of effort that goes into receiving that doctorate. But what pleases me more to see is that the most joy for you comes not from the public recognizement of your effort that is a doctorate, but instead from the oportunity of teaching to older, more advanced students. You have a real vocation for teaching, Sir, something I admire much:up:

Well done Tak!
If I get the job I'm hoping for, I'll be one of those lowly interns toiling in Departmental depths. Not quite a professorship, but every little helps, yeah? :)
What's your field, may I ask?

My field is Musicology. I'll be a professor of music history and theory.
I could not imagine being a proctologist. Something is inherently creepy about having to look up there for a living.
