:arrgh!: I just wanted to say fair winds and following seas to all of us german sub commanders out there (and the american's in the pacific as well). I have had Silent Hunter III for about a year but I never really got into it. I bought Silent Hunter IV to find myself playing an incomplete game. I felt this franchise had so much promise, and the games were so close to being great. Then I discover this website. I discover the GWX expansion, and now i am in love with this game. I just wanted to thank you all for giving some awesome advice, this forum is like a treasure cove, and introducing me to the wonders of GWX.

While you all are fighting the fight on your desktops, I was fighting the fight over in the North Arabian Gulf. I am stationed on the USS Leyte Gulf CG-55, it's a ticonderoga class cruiser homeport Norfolk, VA. I was on a 7 month deployment in support of Afghanistan and Iraq operations with the USS Enterprise. We dropped a ton of ordnance over there

Thanks again for the great tips, you really made this game enjoyable for me! I still remember the first time I successfully set up a manual firing solution at a 100% realistic, to see a perfect shot right under the smoke stack and the preceding sounds of inner explostions as the ship slowly blew itself apart. Amazing experience!

Welcome Aboard skipper,

SH3 GWX is awesome,
but SH4 is just still in child shoes, it has to be fixed first before mayor mods can be made for the game, you have to be patien for a while something great will turn up for SH4 for sure.

So having been busy in the arrabian seas?
dropped ordance, well what did you guys hit for example :hmm:

anyway welcome onboard.

You discovered in fact much more than that:D I have made longtime freends here, and what is better, I have found lots of pals who don't look at me with compassion ("Poor guy...") when they see me fiddling around with a wiz-wheel for hitting at 100% realism a target. Hey, this web has saved me thousands of bucks in psychiater bills

Thanks all for the very big welcome, well as far as what did we bomb we bombed the bajeezes out of the Afganistan. I can't remember too well, but last year when that one taliban leader guy got hit in afghanistan, that was us  Planes were coming and going all day and night, it was crazy.

I've noticed GWX is a lot tougher, I do have one question though. I noticed the first flotilla is not based in Wilhemshaven but Kiel now? Was the stock SHIII wrong? Also, I see I am patrolling new grids, but half the time I see nothing at all in them. If I have to go to AM21 one more time I don't know what I am going to do. :damn: Are the grid assignments random? or strategically given to you ? It always seems like my commanders are giving me the crap assignments :rotfl:

Welcome CaptainPest, anyone fighting terrorists is tops in my book.

As many can attest here, I usually pass out potato peelers to the "bilge-rats" lol.

However, considering that it seems you've already spent some time at sea recently...

...Why don't you head up to the bridge for a smoke instead.

Welcome home matey. Welcome home.:arrgh!:
