An interesting video on what the US did with Japan's subs after WWII (including the infamous I58).

WOW!:o
Sad, but it shows what a gun (or torpedo) hit actually does to a sub.
Thanks for the link.

wow:o
but still....a sad sight seeying the submarine getting blown to bits like that.
I just wondered what the I-58 was imfamous for
this is what I found:
wikipedia:
I-58 was a Japanese B3-Typesubmarine in World War II. She was built in September 1944 at Yokosuka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yokosuka), Japan, purposely to launch Kaiten (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiten) manned torpedoes. Commanded by Lieutenant Comdr. Mochitsura Hashimoto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mochitsura_Hashimoto) (1909-2001) she was responsible for sinking the USS Indianapolis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Indianapolis_%28CA-35%29) on July 30 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_30), 1945 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1945). She was scuttled (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scuttling) off Goto, Japan on April 1, 1946.

All but the first was explosives.
it really sadens me that the so called "experts" running the show are compleate idiots who dont have a clue as to what they are doing! they're all like "3 mast and windows its the 58" apperantly those *BlanK* dont seem to know that the I-36, I-47, I-53 and about 3 or 4 more subs also sunk there have exacly the same features. any real expert on IJN submarines would positively know that sub was not the I-58 by the conning tower. the I-58 had a railing around the back end and the sub shown there (my guess the I-36 or I-53) doesnt.

The Russians wanted to have some of the boats to look at. The Americans, who relized that this would help the russians build better subs and torpedos, decided to sink them before they were forced to hand them over.

Possibly the earliest example of the beginning of The Cold War :hmm:
