Another game save oddity.

It is spring 1944, I am in command of USS Balao. My mission is to insert a spy on the Japanese Home Islands (forget the city). I make the drop without being detected and scoot back to Midway to re-fuel before deciding what to do next. (I was given no additional goal after completing the spy drop). It was late for me when I got to Midway, so I re supplied, saved the game and shut down and went to bed.

The next evening I loaded the save and much to my suprise I found that the 5"/20 bow mounted deck gun that I left Pearl with was now a 4"/50.

Honestly, issues with game saves are becoming a show stopper for me.

Same here, haven't played in over 2 weeks, since my saves (apart from the auto-ones in the base-office) won't load anymore. There goes 6 hours of play and 122k of tonnage. I don't need this aggravation with saves and all the other "features", gaming is supposed to be fun, reluctantly waiting for 1.3:down: .

You guys following the SH3 (yup same with SH3) save game "rules"? No saves near ports (except auto-save between patrols) no saves near any other units, and on the surface oh and not anywhere near shift changes (for SH4).

joea is right, i learned the hard way that underwater saves are NO NO, also I have saved near vessels and loaded fine but one thing you surely want to do is go to the tactical map to save and make sure time compression is at x1 and no more.

Yup has been posted many times before, save on the surface away from traffic and you should have no probs, never had a problem since I followed these two simple rules.

I had the same thing with the 5"25 deck gun. It changes back to the 4" 50. SH4 is really a strange game.

I have saved (dont recall if I did it "correctly") and when I came back into the game next time my 2nd objective--photo fleet in Rabaul--was gone. I proceeded back to base with several saves in between and it never came back. This exact thing happened to me twice.
