Hi again everyone. After 8 months shore-leave (I wish - it was actually a crashed computer which I couldn't replace), I've finally got myself back in action. Unfortunately, I can't remember most of SH3 (at my age I struggle to remember my name!), so could somebody please remind me how to install The Grey Wolves 1.1a over a fresh SH3 install? I have all the files backed-up on a CD, so I just want to know if all that's required is to run TGW11a.exe Then I'll have to go scouring distant shores for the various other mods I had installed. Not that I know what they were! Hopefully some names will jog my poor aching brain. Good to be back - wish me luck, 'cause I'm a nooby again!

Do yourself a favor and get GWX, the Grey Wolves Expansion that was released in Dec 2006, it is now at version 1.03, with 1.04 in the works.

Welcome back:up:

You're really throwing me in at the deep-end, aren't you? :D I've already d/l GWX and was all set to install it last night - then I read the threads! Now, I wasn't the greatest Commander 8 months ago - GWX would probably have me lying "full fathoms five" in the Naval Academy sectionl!! Seriously though - do you think I could survive? If there's a chance, I'll give it a go. (Maybe I'd even keep you informed of a 60yr old captain's progress? LOL) Thanks for the WB - I need all the encouragement I can get!

Many thanks for all the welcome backs! GWX is now installed, though as I'm taking a much-needed refresher course at the Academy, I have yet to bathe in its glory :) I found it amazing that I could forget so much in half a year or so. My own little sound tweaks are installed (diesel engine sounds and gunfire mainly) and several extra German wartime songs can now eminate from the gramophone. The best part is coming back to the forum - a little like finding an old armchair in the garden shed, your backside fits nicely back into the seat! Wish me luck, patrols should commence later today or dawn tomorrow. One last thing... the wait for a new computer was worth it. I have frame rates banging up against treble figures now! (Surfaced) Isn't technology wonderful?

Hey,
I just did all of this and it's freah in the ol' melon.
1. Download GWX.exe, GWXbin-1, gwxbin-2, gwxbin-3, gwxbin-4, gwxbin-5 and make a folder, I called mine GWX.
2. Place all of these files in the gwx folder.
3. Run GWX.exe
4. Download GWX103.exe then run it

You should be set for GWX

For SH3 commander: I'm not exactly sure what these files are called but I'll edit them later
1. Download sh3cmdr2.7 then run the file
2. download gwxcfg4sh3cmdr.zip
3. Open the zipfile and you'll see 5 files and one is a read me
4. Go to extract files and use the browse feature to find c: programfiles/sh3commander/cfg and extract all them in that folder
5. Say yes to all the "a file already exists for ...." whatever the file is.

Then you be up to speed like me. I'm still getting the hang of sh3 commander, but it consumes my daily thoughts. Thats ok, cause it's summer and time to veg-out.

edit: nope nevermind, I see you already have downloaded this. sorry about the post, but it could help a noob

editedit: coool... gwx1.04!!!!

There's a possibility that I spoke a little too soon. As I said earlier, I thought it wise to run through the Academy to get myself back up to speed, however.... on the final "test", I had to exit the game (unavoidable work needed doing). Five minutes later, restarted the game again (via SH3Commander) and when the Disk Checking panel came up I got the message "Error Code 87" followed by further info on what had failed - DrvReg, it seems. I'm posting this with two hopes, firstly that the re-boot I just did might have cleared the problem, and secondly that someone out there might know what the error means - in case I can't get back into the game in the next few minutes.
I quote (loosely) Blackadder. "My path through life is strewn with cowpats from the devil's own satanic herd!"

Nope. I now get past the Disk Checking screen but just as the Grey Wolves title video starts the game drops back to the SH3 Commander message reminding me to rollback. Anybody got any ideas as to what has gone wrong? And whether there's a cure?

Heavily smoked cheeder on a breton cracker with a very cold beer or a good median priced wine. Then everything seems to work pretty good.

Or with enough of the above... "Scarlett I COULD GIVE A DAME" :D :rotfl:

Seriously I hope we can figure this out. :yep:

Asigao what kind of cheese is that. Sounds good.

Ok. It would seem that the error 87 message was coming from the Starforce driver. Working on the assumption that I was going to have to uninstall SH3 anyway, I downloaded & ran the Starforce Driver Removal software at about 05:00 today and was preparing to uninstall when this little voice whispered "Just give it another try" - so I did. The game re-applied the Starforce drivers and requested a re-boot to complete, then loaded normally and worked fine. I then collapsed in relief. Of course, after a three-hour sleep break, I have yet to ascertain if it is STILL working, but all being well, I might actually be able to leave port and examine GWX's wonders! One other question. I installed the Integrated Orders optional Mod. Where is the menu? I can see nothing different, certainly not an additional menu. Bear in mind that I AM very tired  just tell me how to access it! Going to try SH3 again now, if it fails again I'll be right back!

The integrated orders mod only adds extra functionality to the existing User Interface. Basically, extra buttons so you don't have to use the keyboard shortcuts. Click on the Officer Icons for the added options.

Oh, do yourself a favour, get rid of StarForce once and for all. You must know how.;)

Good Morning KF. :sunny:

Glad to hear things are looking up. One thing I don't recall others saying if they do or don't do while installing Game, mods or whatever is I turn off my Virus protection and any other programs I don't need. And I leave them off during gameplay. Btw I use the IO mod myself. I like it's features.

Good luck and keep in touch how things are going. Me and many others will be standing by to offer any assitance we can to get you up and running. Were looking forward to hearing your reports on high tonnage:arrgh!:

Shows you how tired I am - I completely missed the new menu choices provided by Integrated Orders! Just btw, I don't know if anybody is interested, but I cut the "Neue FunkSprech, Herr Kaleun!" off the end of the incoming radio message file and mixed it into the main body of the morse sound. I did all nine files and varied the voice start position between 3 seconds and 5 seconds. It just seemed wrong to me to hear all that morse, then a voice telling me a message had arrived - "Yes. I know! I heard it!", so I decided to have a short amount of "reaction time" and then the radio ops. voice come in. If anyone wants the .ogg files, let me know and I'll email them. Now if you'll excuse me, I have ships to sink, or is that "I have ships sinking me"? Whichever!
