View Full Version : Better deaths for our subs?

You know, when our subs get killed, I wish the game did more than abruptly stop and go to the statistics screen.

When we kill a ship, we get to see it break apart, blow up, sink, whatever.

After all the hours and time we invest in "our" subs and crew, when it dies, I wish we could watch it likewise break apart, blow up, or sink slowly into the abyss and come to its final resting place on the ocean floor.

Would be neat to see a good death of u-boat scene. Make it work sir.

After a very rought encounter with 2 destroyers my sub was badly damage but can t figure how bad. Some hour later, I was trying to snake into a convoy in a very rought weather when a destroyer show himself just 500 metters on my left. Ordered crash dive. Meanwhile I was hit once by shell. The destroyer never got a chance to depth charge me, depth crushed at 35 metters :rotfl:
Well, at least I know now how badly damaged I was :damn:

I'd rather not be reminded about the demise of my boat

Man, after all the effort you put into building your boat and crew, I'd think you'd want a more memmorable ending than just BANG a screen full of statistics.

Simple answer: don't die. (If only it were that simple)

Call me masochistic, but ive always wanted a death scene that fully hammered home, how badly i just screwed up. An interior view of the control room, where i can hear the men scream the last panicked breath, see the water flooding in, and then the screen just fade to black.

Next career, youd be more careful :88)

I feel so demoralized afterward that I wouldn't want to watch my boat and crew heading for the bottom. And it was all my fault. Rather would like to shamefully look at my stats.......of a lost career......

I agree actually, I wouldn't feel comfortable watching a death scene like that on the computer. I mean, SH3 is a very realistic and immersive game, especially if you have got GWX slapped on top of that or some of the other top Supermods.

However, Sh3 is also, first and foremost, an entertainment product. I would seriously hate to see such a realistic yet entertaining came, make a big spectacle of the horrendous ways many real life German sailors met their end.

Now before people jump all over me and say "oh its ok to see the ships break apart but don't show the U-boat blowing up" Bear in mind... when those ships did get struck the crew had a fighting chance to get off, slim, but they had a chance. The sailors in the U-boats had no chance most of the time. Furthermore, we don't actually see any sailors of those ships dying, apart from the odd cardboard cutout type man falling into the water.

No, I have to confess, "better deaths" does nothing for me. I would rather keep it as is, a dignified conclusion rather than a borderline gory spectacle.

I look at it like I'm dead. So I don't get to see my boat break apart or implode, again, because I'm dead.

I think it mainly doesnt show it because of the realism factor, you are in the U-Boat, hull crush = near instant death. Though I do agree something other than just a sudden stat screen to let you know what happened would be nice. When I lost my last boat, I was getting hit, water spraying in and then.....stat screen. Was rather anti-climactic. Even if it showed water rushing (or a violent rushing sound as the hull collapses) and then blackness before the stat screen. SOMETHING to indicate a closure, I think it would improve it slightly.

The abrupt stop from game to stats is a little...coarse.

Would be nice. IIRC, even SH I CE had "death screens" depending how your demise happened.

I agree with that 100%, good idea.
