View Full Version : Tube door malfunctions, and depth control in bad weather

I always open tube doors before I fire. I do this by using the drop down torpedo control panel in the periscope/UZO view. I select each tube and hit Q.

Sometimes the game makes the tube opening sound, sometimes it doesn't. However, even when the sound is made, usually only 1 tube per target (I always use 2) is actually open by the time I fire.

Naturally, I don't have time to go to external view and confirm that my doors are open, so it's quite annoying to hit the fire button, then end up waiting 4 seconds as the tube floods and the door opens.

I always have crew in the torpedo room. Whether i'm running silently or not, or whether the boat is moving or not, seems to have no bearing on the situtation. Have other people had this problem?

The other thing that bugs me is how my boat constantly drops well below the surface every time a wave passes over during stormy weather. Every time, my diesel engines switch off, meaning sometimes I can't make much headway. It's also annoying to hear "Current depth 10 meters" constantly, and to stand on the bridge while underwater.

Is there any way to get my boat to stop doing this? Anything I can modify? I'm using GWX 1.01.

If you pull up your TDC screen, right next to the torpedo tube selector there is a small dial with two options, one is single and the other is salvo. Switch it to salvo and select from the various salvo selections on the dial. Now, what ever tubes you have selected for the salvo, they will all open and flood at the same time when you press "Q." Launch between each torpedo in a salvo is about 3 seconds. Be sure to change the salvo spread angle accordingly before firing, more than once I've had a salvo of 2 torps split a juicy freighter due to an incorrect slavo spread:nope:

If you right-click on the torpedo officer, you will see a box with green lights on the bulkhead, it shows you position of tube doors and has switches. Flip the switches and each door will open. Same thing on the conning tower.

Yes, heavy seas are annoying. The best way of avoiding getting waves over your head is put your boat in dry dock. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Learn something everyday. Thanks for that tip Brag!

To make it easy for one shot sequential firing just hit Y to select the next tube, this closes the tube you just used then hit Q to open the newly selected one but make sure you wait 3-4 secs before hitting fire. If you want to close a tube manually just hit W.
