View Full Version : Mount & Blade
Came across this game last night and got dragged into it faster than you can say PNEUMONO*ULTRA*MICRO*SCOPIC*SILICO*VOLCANO*CONIOSI S.

You can download the full version of the game and play it for free up till level 6. Highly recommended!
Yea Ive played it, its a pretty good game.:)
All it needs is more gore (no, not Al Gore), medieval was cruel period. I would LOVE to see the enemy archer's head roll off after I pass him on my horse crazily swinging my battle axe around hoping to hit something. ;)

What that game realy needs is a purpose, All you realy do in that game is fight roving bands of knights, bandits, etc. There is no sieging to speak of (you can take over 2 castles in the game but that is rather pointless). Plus though you can join a faction and do quests they are all generic. So the game gets old after a bit when you get sick of just endlessly killing for no particular reason other then leveling.

It's still a beta version and keep in mind, it is made by some Turkish couple, not a big game company. ;)

Yep i know, just saying it needs purpose and once it has purpose then that game should be realy good.
The combat is pretty well done, though my big gripe with combat is how the AI can swing through one another in melee (its kind of anoying as they bunch together then proceed to do attacks that they couldnt possibly do in real life with out getting tangled up or stabbing each other).
That and i think shields are a touch too effective, and blocking with weapons is way to efficent especialy light weapons blocking big heavy weapons. For example me charging an infantry man on horseback using a great axe (i think thats its name in game, its realy a 2h bearded axe) and having them parry it with a dagger. No way on earth a dagger could stop an attack like that, heck even with solid steel shield the impact would break your arm easily.
Otherwise the combat is great, i wish some of the medieval/fantasy MMO's had a combat system like that.

Yeh, some aspects of the combat are really annoying. But then again, I usually encounter only cavalry & archers, so it's easy to just use my great lance to wipe out the cavalry and then use my great battle axe to mop up the archers.
