View Full Version : Damage Control much improved=s 2G,SDRAM
:sunny: :know: :|\\ :yep: You'll see, more logical recovery. IMHO.
Some details and comparisons would be nice.
@ Capt.joea,
I installed with 1 gig, then added another 1024 SD RAM.The damage control function, appears to be a RAM lover.Opinion:repairs are completed,if equipment is not destroyed. Thinking we could still use a abandon ship/surrender option.:sunny:

Could this possibly be the answer to the damage control bug which causes
that flooding after damage? 1 gig not enough to repair all damage?
Sounds crazy but stranger things have happened....
JIM
I have 2 gigs and have run into the same DC issues. Having said that, I haven't been damaged since I applied 1.2
Skipper DedEye,
Are you talking depth charges,or damage team. There is a lethal radius adjustment by Redwine that helps w/charges.

Excuse me for asking, Donut. But do we know each other from the beginning of the PTC days?

I do not know how one more gig could help this but, hey, I'm game for anything. I do have to say, I was whacked twice heading home to PH. Bulkhead damaged, two different compartments and both half on the dark red damage meter. Hull was not breached. All repaired and still able to dive to 100 feet. Granted my crew is pretty strong now after 4 patrols, medals and promotions, etc. I wonder if this plays a roll in damage control. Currently, I do not see anything wrong with damage control, I have not experience the sinking like a rock problem with 1.2. Then again, since 1.2 I have not had hull breach with the damage I have received.
It is still a mystery to me.

I can definitely state that none of the problems I have encountered with damage control, or anything else in this game, have ever been related to a shortage of ram.
I have never played without 2gb.
I have never seen my memory usage reach 1.5gb while playing.

I agree with U-Bones. I've been playing the game with 2GB DDR2 since day one, and still get phantom damage and inexplicable "dive-to-death with no prior damage" issues. More RAM will certainly help smooth things out and make input far less laggy, but I doubt it would do what you think it's doing, donut.

What going from 1g to 2g -will- do is stop trivial memory swapping to and from disk (while playing sh4), which is a tremendous performance boost even for a fast and tuned disk.
It is possible that you have hard drive issues that are brought to the forefront when swapping...

Lol, sorry, I guess DC is rather ambiguous :) I meant damage control.
