Whenever I find myself in a dull moment at work, i let my mind drift off to thoughts of being depth charged and ordering ahead flank, and full left rudder... take her deeper chief!
Whenever im, shopping with the wife, or out at dinner and there is a lull in the conversation, occasionally i picture the view from the conning tower under a million swaying and rocking stars... the hum of the diesels and the gentle swoosh of waves passing by.
Whenever I lay down to take a nap, or to go to bed, i sometimes imagine laying in the captains bunk, trying to get some sleep among the buzz of equipment and men going about their duties on the other side of the curtain.
so am i crazy?
am i hard core?
or do most of you do the same thing?! :arrgh!:
Sounds normal to me.:doh::arrgh!::88)
None of your "symptoms" sound life threatening, unless you try to crash dive when driving near an airport and someone spots and aircraft.:D

:hmm: you are very sick you need help ,and medication or at least be certified and put away in some far off mental home and stay away from salt water ,you been drinking too much of it:rotfl:
The only possible medication is liberal applications of Bosun's grog with a rum chaser.:rotfl:
Your illness is unfortunately incurable and you will have to sit freezing in wet woollen clothes under a red light for the rest of your gaming days.:D

Now your going a bit tooo far! I made a phone call and the boys with the large white jackets are on their way! I bet while you were looking at those tankers you blurted out "Fire one"!
You're suffering from terminal alzUbootdeepitis. The only cure is to join a penguin colony. :shifty:

WHAT? You really mean you do not practice determining Angles off the Bow on all automobiles and trucks you see while having a walk in the streets???
Are you mad? How can you expect to get reasonables tonnages and help the war effort of your country if you pass on practicing??
You really really are sick man! You should be removed from active command inmediately! I'm going to write Onkel Karl about this inmediately:x

Not at all my friend, for I:
Draw pictures of submarines whenever I get a chance
Consistantly shout out ALAAAAAAAAARM!
Am attempting to get my friends to call me Kaleun
Waste time by wanting to find out which boat I'll be in command of in a few years
Wish to be buried by being cremated and having my ashes thrown into pearl harbor
Draw up intercept methods in maths...for a T2
log on and off IRC with *Surfaces Das Boot and *Submerges Das Boot
So believe me, you're pretty normal
sounds to me you need to go and visit a U-boot for real and soak up the claustophobic atmosphere for yourself... :D helped me a bit ;)
Good to see that we are not alone with our illness innit?:D

Gah, I've been onboard a Los Angeles Class and our very own Collins class, didn't stop me from wanting to join the Submarine arm of the navy :D
Even though we have a piss poor excuse for submarine and only six of them...COMMISSION HERE I COME!
For a submariner anything on the surface is a target and should be engaged until identified as freindly or neutral.
Hands up everyone with a Kaleuns cap who calls their family or housemates "the crew" and has a red light in the room with the computer?
I'm there!:yep:

My neighbour has a red light at her window, does that mean she shares the same interests in submarine warfare as I do ? :hmm:

No that just means she is a hooker.
Can't speak for sub games, but I'm still addicted to planetside and suffering withdrawl symptoms ( See this post and random mention of planetside for evidence). Every so often I swear to god I hear the little count down timer the game uses for the transport, or the little sounds for implants etc.

Actually, I've never felt the least bit claustrophobic in any sub or ship I've been in. Dunno why, either, as I can get more than a touch so in very closed spaces on land. Maybe something about the motion of the boat on the water or something? ?Or just that metal seems less confining to me than wood and concrete? No idea. No claustrophobia on subs, though.

Used to play PS quite a bit, myself. Before it started sucking, anyway. Was on Emerald, then Konried (when they merged) as TR.
It's ONE of the reasons I think an MMO-subsim would be fun. An MMO can still be compelling without the level "grinding" of tradditional MMORPGs that everyone thinks of when the topic comes up (*cough*WoW).

A Subsim MMORPG would work if it was done right actually.
Each Kaleun has their crew, communicate via BDU, meet up with other Kaleun's in axis ports..share information on patrol. The biggest problem would be managing processing of all the information on current AI shipping location and movement.
The best way to keep one's sanity is to go nuts over something

Its alright still, if you left because of BFRs they are so easy to kill its rediculous :) Played with ULTRA when I was a zergling and KOTOR/Overlords a bit later.
MMO? psh 32-64 (LOL imagine a 64 sub wolf pack :D) subs would be plenty. You wouldnt need a MMO but rather a decent multiplayer :P Have a few dedicated servers and volia. Would probably have to work like guild wars with instances due to time compression issues. That would be cool though, enable the player to vist various places in ports (nightclub anyone?) and interact with other players before missions and then the actual missions would be player groups of maybe 10-15 who would have patrol areas that would be fairly close and could act as a wolf pack.

When the ambulance would come to a halt on a scene... I sometimes used to yell, "Alle maschinen stop!!!"
My partner thought I was barking mad.
I kept my mouth shut whenever we had to (re)load a new oxygen cylinder.:|\\

I live next to a harbor that has a carrier, the USS Yorktown, and that's all I can think of when looking at her... ahhh the tonnage!
I camped out on it when I was in Boyscouts and there are a bunch of stray cats in there, I guess to keep the rat population down. So I'd only be sinking the new top secret weapon rat killer.
