I've been reading about these 2 programs I'v seen on here. VAC and Shoot. Which is better and/or easier to use. Now secondly how to I get a profile for SH4. I have searched the forum, Google, and other forums trying to find one and I cant find one anywhere. I would create one but my brain just cant grasp XML, I barly know any HTML. I once tried to make a custom Civ on Civ IV. . . after 3 days of confusion and wasted time I gave up. So any help in this regard would really be nice. thanks!

I use VAC, I like it very much, has excellent voice recognition. If you like this one, I have a post in the modding forum in which I have uploaded a SH4 profile. The link to the thread is: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=113863 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=113863)

The link to the file is there so you can download it. I hope you get it and enjoy it, Darkranger85

I use shoot because I've been too cheap to buy VAC for $10. But VAC does sound much easier to program.
I have a profile for shoot made up that I posted here earlier.
Just copy and paste it on notepad and then change the extention from .txt to XML.

Let me check on the faulty commands and I'll get back to you. If there are other commands that do not work well, please tell me so I can fix them. Thanks.

Yes, sometimes the download fails, but if you keep trying it will allow you to download it. I just tried it and had to do it twice for the download to work.

I was looking at the commands in the profile builder and I looked at fire torpedo, it looks like it dosnt have a key associated with it. I tried putting enter there but it wont let me use that.

Yes, it appears, I missed some commands from the commands.cfg, but I'll fix them and repost...

Thanks a lot...

Thanks for all the help. I hate to be a pain but I seem to be having another problem. I have VAC on and two weird things happen.

1. The crew will report that we are diving as if I ordered it when I havent so much as uttered a sound of any sort.

2. I look at my depth meter and it shows me at like 245 feet and no one said a word. So I order them to surface and they do, then a couple moments later I look and we are at 245 again (I had time compressed to like 2000x at the time so thats why I didnt realize till we got there). And this happens over and over and over till I turn off VAC.

No pain at all :D ... I suggest you turn on the setting for push to talk, so that the program doesn't think you are giving it commands when you are not...

Ok, I checked the file and tested it. The "Next Tube" Command is working fine, but the command to fire the torpedo is "Fire Tube" instead of "Fire Torpedo"
Once again, "Next Tube" to switch tubes
"Fire Tube" to fire torpedoes.

By the way, I checked and the VAC system, even though the download is free, it is a 30 day demo, but I believe that the unlimited version just costs $10, so it is inexpensive and I still recommend it.:yep:

Also, I uploaded the fixed profile, so you can download it. Once again, the file can be downloaded from:

While we are talking about VAC, I had a question. Is it particularly difficult to make profiles for different games? Like I mentioned earlier I'm dumbfounded when it comes to XML. But I would like to make profiles for other games if possible. One I really want to make is one for EVE online but I want to know how hard it is first. Thanks again!

I found it's very easy. As a matter of fact you don't need to know any XML, as the program does this for you. It includes the builder program to make the profiles and the system program to use the program in the games.

ok, on EVE online all the fire commands are F1, F2 , F3 and so on depending on how many weapons you have. I tried making a profile and it wont let me put the F buttons in. Do you know why?

and also I've noticed that its VERY easy to make it do the dive command as I mentioned earlier. Would that improve with more voice training?

To use the F keys go to the pull down menu that says extended keys. There are all the F keys. I believe that using the voice training should help, but honestly I'm not really sure. I've had no problems, so I haven't done any voice training.

:-) I got it working. Its not as hard as I thought it was. Now I just have to perfect what phrases to use so I dont get mix ups in the commands.

Thanks a lot for all the help. Its not often you come across a forum that seems to have an abuldence of nice helpful people and a lack of those waiting to call you a noob for your lack of experience.
