got sunk and tried to load the last save but no joy:damn: . it's happened 4 times already and i'm not lookin forward to reinstalling yet again, which will be the 3rd or 4th time, now. any ideas? thx
SH3 and SH4 are known for being a bit shaky on reloading saves that have a lot going on. Typically, it's best to avoid saving while in contact with the bad guys, saving while underwater sometimes causes problems too.
If you can manage it, try and save either in your base or while calmly sailing along either before or after a battle.

I went through all that hell already, problem was just a corrupt save.
I loaded an earlier save and the game loaded. I should have known to try that first rather than going through the uninstall / reinstall thing... I hate when I get momentary tunnel vision. :o
Not saying that's what your problem is, but I'd try loading an earlier save first.
Yeah, you lose what was on the bad one, but it's better than doing all that other stuff.

one earlier save i tried started in surabaya and those after, where i was about to engage, it had 2 liners and 1 DD after which 3 more show up. guess it's one of the scripted mission. don't eanna start a new career either cuz i'm less than 40k tons from the 100k club:ping:

Yeah, that hurts when you know you have a juicy bunch of targets going to appear.
A couple nights ago, I came upon the mother of all task forces, but I screwed it up.
I bought this game when it first hit the shelves and I had never run into a task force, well except those dinky 3 or 4 ship jobs. This one I counted over 22 ships, all but 2 were warships.
I go up to take a peek and it's stoming to beat all. Had probably 75 yards of visiblity. The ships were aways off so I up'd the TC, but hit it a couple notches too much... hehe next thing I'm rammed by a cruiser and a DD comes out of the fog ahead of me. I didn't want to just go down, so... I maned the deck gun and started spraying. heheh it was funny. I died. :rotfl:

Yes saving while there is alot of contacts is risky.
Saving while submerged is also risky.
Sorry you found out the hard way.
I keep three saves and alternate between them. With this method if one is corrupt I can fall back to the previous and only loose at most a few hours and not an entire carrier.

Activity and underwater saves are prone to issues - as stated above. Another little trick - only save from the map screen. With these 3 things I have eliminated my save game issues.
Good Hunting!
