I watched a program on discovery (or something- maybe it was a Horizon program?) which considered the possibility that Titanic and her sister ship, the Olympic, had been switched. Essentially so that the ship could be scuttled to save the White Star line financially by collecting the insurance money.
For certain, many of the pictures you see of the Titanic, in old news reels and photographs, are in actual fact her sister ship; due to the fact that so few pictures of Titanic were taken before she sank. This can be seen quite clearly in a newsreel film where the names of the tugboats have been scratched out from each frame to hide the fact that they are the tugs berthing Olympic in New York, the destination Titanic never made. The same applies to many of the postcards of Titanic.

It was interesting enough, but all of the so called 'evidence' for the switch was remarkably circumstantial. In the words of one of the interviewees: if a switch had taken place at the construction docks, then there's no way that XX thousand irish dock workers would hahve failed to notice, or if they had done, kept quiet about it.
Nice little diversion, but not what you could call definitive proof under any circumstances.

Wait, wait...I thought the Titanic was sunk by the USS Toledo, after being hit by a cruise missile disguised as a 767 rigged with demolition charges when it was built and flown by Elvis.

Or am I getting my conspiracies mixed up?

There were some serious structural differences between Titanic and Olympic, and if you know what to look for it's not hard to tell them apart at all. For instance:

Olympic, with the open A deck (circled in Red):

Anyway, if anyone actually believes the conspiracy or has any interest in debunking it, I would recommend Olympic & Titanic: The Truth Behind the Conspiracy.

Well here is a REAL fact to think about coincidences:

When Titanic sank the 14th april 1912 there was a young women called Violett Jessop working as waitress on her. She survived the sinking and then the 21th November 1916 she was working as nurse aboard the sister ship Britannic, when the vessel (Converted to Hospital Ship) hit a mine layed by U73 and sank. Mrs Jessop also survived that wrecking, but it is not known if the White Star Line banned her from boarding another of her ships:lol:

She was also aboard the Olympic when she was in collision with HMS Hawke in 1911.

Someone should name a ship after her - NOT. :nope:

Well, I was inclined not to believe it until I realized:

Captain Smith disappeared when the Titanic sank, and he hasn't been heard from SINCE! They would have you believe that he died in the sinking; "going down with his ship" is the common parlance. I for one don't believe it. Where are they hiding him?
