It's OK, the target was an abortion clinic. No need to report it.

I always find it amusing how these people think they are saving lives by killing and maming other people to do it. Real smarties we are dealing with there! (sarcasm...choke choke)

You are crossing the line on the subject of the thread and turning it into an abortion debate. I will not be dragged into debate on the issue since my foot sits somewhere in the direct middle. I cannot stand the idea of the government telling me or my wife what we can or can't do with our bodies, and I can't stand the idea of half developed children, especially nearly developed partial birth abortions. To me, both carry equal weight in an almost agonizing fasion. The only way to deal with it is to allow abortions and then hope people have enough sense to avoid using the service, putting them out of business. Of course in our selfish and me me me liberal world, this is not ever going to happen anytime soon.
Now you know my views on it. We have a typical catch 22 scenario with this one. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Truthfully your views are close to coinciding with mine. Just wanted clarification on that (dangerously?) ambiguous post  Back on topic...
Last year, the group documented four attempted bombing and arson attacks; 11 assaults against abortion providers and one kidnapping. Such attacks have been on the wane, Saporta said, a phenomena she attributes to tougher federal laws and better training for abortion personnel.
That's very startling to me. I heard about none of those; but then again, I don't hear much crime at all out of the U.S.

The same thing happened with Skybirds capital punishment thread.
When contentious threads are posted, contentious answers will be posted.
Some will say that the abortion of one million people anually in the US is a legitimate reason for violence against those who cause those deaths. Others will say that that abortion is legal and a legitimate choice in the US, and any deaths to those who are acting in a legal manner are acts of terror.
I have my beliefs on the subject and if you search for it you will find which side I take. I will leave you with this:
Slavery was legal in the US until 1863. The elimination of 'undesirables 'was legal in Germany in the mid-20th century.

Ok my intent in posting this was* - Is anyone else suprised at the lack of news coverage given to this domestic terrorism? Is it only newsworthy when they are foreign?
* - but the thread can go anywhere within reason, of course

Correct. In this country when people commit acts of Terrorism, they are loners, play video games, etc, etc. Had it been a muslim, it would be on TV for days and Bush would call it a victory in the war on Terrorism.

The Government did go pretty much balls to the wall to catch the abortion clinic bomber who also bombed the Atlanta Olympics though.

This is Abortion ........ and the Media is for Abortion ........ so why give air time to the opposition
Funny the Media never shows the remains of babies that have been murdered.
Media is also anti-Bush and Bush is anti-abortion.
Throw in a few rap stars and a crazy gunman some gay people on parade and it would be on the tube for weeks.

Are this isolated incidents by individuals or small groups of people with their own deviant ideas of what's right and wrong or are these events part of a bigger organization or massive movement that none of us are yet aware of?
To answer your question: yes, these are very newsworthy items but what's a nation to do with all the feuding going on in Washington these days! That all that gets to the main pages, so it seems.
BTW, can anyone dig up the statistics on how many bombs and bomb scares there are throughout the year in the US and break them down by supposed motives? That would be of general interest, I would think.
I did find this in this news article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070428/us_nm/texas_abortion_bomb_dc_1) of the incident:
"This was the first bombing attempt this year at an abortion clinic, according to the National Abortion Federation, which tracks violence against abortion providers.
Four incidents of attempted bombing or arson were reported in 2006, the NAF said. More than 40 abortion clinic bombings have occurred since 1977, with the last reported in 2001."

 It couldnt be that the vast majority of the country is anti Bush, could it? Nooooo!
I did not say the vast majority of the country is anti-Bush...
I said the Media IS!
The Media wants a liberal government in power...they have yet to understand that the vast majority of people don't want filth pumped into their homes...(AT this point I would like to state here that Media is winning the war on filth... I see it in children and teens and young so called men and women everyday)...and people are running out of decent family oriented programing to watch.
If the Media was against abortion it would not be promoted as a simple none life threatening choice for females to make. I think I have seen one anti-abortion commercial but I have seen to many to count TV programs on the joy of destroying a lump of flesh...
And if noone isfor then why are some doctors forced to learn how to perform them...?
Why is there an industry set up to provide them...?
Why would somebody except a pay check to do the deed?
Well this list of questions would be endless save for the fact I don't have time to type them all down.
As far as Reflecting the stupidity of this argument I suggest we all look in the mirror.
Now I stand by my earlier statement.......
"Throw in a few rap stars and a crazy gunman some gay people on parade and it would be on the tube for weeks."
Let me add if a 'Hamsandwich' was flung in there all that would be pushed into our faces for months.

The bomb didn't explode so that problably has something to do with it. Need them blood and corpses.
But on the scope of the General Topics, it makes perfect sense: we are of the opinion that Islamic terrorism is overblown since the chances of being a victim of such an attack are far too slim.
Abortion clinics are even more specified targets, have a far smaller record of cases by large (dozens versus thousands) and ridiculously contrasting bodycounts. So by the logic of SUBSIM, presupposing the probably false premise that we hold our senses of proportion and scale dear instead of having mutilated them, even reporting such a case once is already a massive overblow, thus the reason why the journalists, who must share our views, hesitate.
Can't blame them for being so prudent on their job.
