Hi, I have another few noob questions:

1) How do you accurately plot range on the Nav map. The tools are so poor you can only guess at the increments between 1k and the next. E.g you want 1560k finding the 1k is not a problem and currently i would just go plot in between 1k & 2k to get the additional .560k but this is not very accurate!

how do you accurately plot the additional .560k ? Are there any additional tools or mods I can use to get smaller divisions on my nav tools (Mainly Compass/ Ruler) or something ?

2) I currently have a range / bearing tool which appears when zoomed in:

a) Can you somehow toggle this on / off? As when I am zoomed in and plotting it hides my markes and makes things diffcult to read etc
b) Are the ranges on this "zoomed bearing/range finder" any good as they seem to differ greatly to when using standard tools. ie. if I place a ruler in the center and drag it out the 1k mark of the ruler appear way before I reach the 1k marking on the zoomed range finder.
I am doing marvelous on the manual firing but want further accurancy so i can pick the sweet spots of ships and not just hit em roughly!

Which brings me to my final question, are there any reconginaition maunual mods showing sweet spots?

Cheers guys

I use the MILS method, and measure ship length. It basically gives me instantaneous range.

Yeah the problem is not so much getting the range but more PLOTTING the correct range. i.e I have a range of 1570 or somthing how do I plot the 1570 exactly when the tools only show 1k divisions ! and now I believe that if I go from 1k to 2k that the actual distance is 1.5 ? What the hell is that about !

I simply need an acurate way of PLOTTING the distances i'm getting.

Hope that makes sense

i understand exactly what you're saying, and i have not been able to overcome a way of the ruler tool only showing Kilometer increments and their decimal increments... it would be nice if there were two ruler tools one to show KM (Well nautical miles ideally) and another to show simply meters.

Because i have not found a way to show simply the meters and not just .7 KM for example i leave map contacts turned on in the realism settings. Its a time saver in this scenario.

Wonder if there is a mod out there that corrects the KM distance into NM distance... :hmm:

also wonder if there is a tool mod that causes the ruler to show meters up to 3 KM then all KMs after that.

The ruler tool is measured in 100 meter increments. So if the range is 1560 meters you can plot it up to 1500 meters. And the number doesn't change until you reach the next increment of 100 so you'll see 1500 but as you draw it longer its adding the length up to 1599 at which point it becomes 1600.

I don't have any trouble getting a fair estimate of range that way. Remember to hit the '?' button to get the special bearing overlays.

So basically most people just plot to approx 100m of range? So if I get 1750 I basically plot 1.7k on map

well i've recently found Wazzoo precision range finder mod which seems to be able to get around this so you can plot to about 10m accuracy but i'm just trying to phathom how to use it correctly as the instruction link is broken.

However isn't there some trick to getting 50m update? For example I believe that if for example you want 1.6km as you extend the ruler to 1.7km,
you must subtract 50 meters. Thus 1.7km is NOT 1700m when it changes
from 1.6km, but is actually 1650 ! !

Confused

That's right.

For example you might plot let's say 1000 meters from your boat.
You have the bearing overlay mod right? 1000m is within the bearing overlay, so compare them. Then you see that 1000 meters on the plot tool is 50 meters off. The bearing tool got it right. So for close plotting less than 15km/30km (depending on wich one you use), you better use the bearing overlay.

Its another one of those things that never got fixed by a patch. You get over it, and that extra 50 meters isn`t much. In your targeting solutions it won`t matter as much as AoB.

However when plotting target course manually it can come into it. But you will get a feeling for the way it works. You just need to do it alot and it`ll all start to work for you.

Yeah cool - I've got the Pato 3k bearing overlay mod but I find it a bit annoying - I can never see my pencil marks when i'm zoomed in !

Also the bearing overlay is useless for plotting distance when on the move as it obviously moves with your sub!

Is there any way you can toggle the bearing mod? Or if not get rid of it?

You can change it for the 1500 meter version. Download it from Wazoo's plotting guide website:
