1000th post

Seems like only yesterday I was peeling potatoes and making crappy fritters in the Subsim galley. Oh how times have changed!!

Several months and a thousand posts later, this place continues to harbour (pun intended, however poor) the best of the best of the internet community, a place free of spam, a place (almost) free of flaming, trolling and general mischief, and a place where your opinions are held in the highest regard and issues are debated maturely.

Its funny, when I think of forums on the internet, I always think of teenage fanboys of the X-Box or PS2 endlessly ranting and swearing about how this is better than that, how one game is crud in a box, amongst other things. But its different with Subsim. Subsim is a place where adults (and mature teens like myself) can discuss simulations, current world events, games, sports and Neal's zanified lighthouse shirt in an environment that allows people to be open, yet keeps immaturity to reasonable levels.

The people you meet here are incredible, and to think that you'd never have met them had you not stumbled on the humble little .com, for a relatively niche market, and ingratiated yourself with its community. To everyone I've talked to, regardless of topic, regardless of outcome, each and every one of you, I consider you all close friends.

So here is to another 1000 posts, my friends. Here's to the future of Subsim, the future of naval simulations, and most importantly, you all. :()1:

I myself never get these large in numbers, mainly cause I can never keep posting on a forum for that long, usualy another game peaks my intrest so I take my leave till my interest returns. :cool:

I have a question for the 1000+ club.How many of your posts are actually about submarines or subsims?I would estimate my figure would only be about 40%.The general topics section certainly is a ripe area for posting-so lets hear honestly what some of you think your percentage is.

3-4% about subsims......I've been out of it since SH3 started taking over my life. Going cold turkey at the minute. At least I can have the GT window open when I'm working :)

Given the nature of my position, nearly all of my posts fall within General Topics, and it takes up 60-70% of my reading on the boards. I always come to GT first to get my 'chores' done. Then, it's off to SHIV/SHIII/DW for play time.
