HI Guys.

About ready to install the latest version of SH3Commander.

I have no previous versions installed .

Can I just launch the exe and install ?
or do I need any other files go with it ?.

I am using sh3 1.4 and GWX 1.3 and hope to also install GWX skin pack.

What do you think ?

PS: What are the odds of the skin pack slowing things (pc) down ?
Cheers

To install SH3Cmd just run the executable and follow the instructions. Since you're using GWX 1.03 you need the Cfg files for GWX. Click on my signature or on the link under it to get them. The Cfg files are easy to install. Just copy them into the SH3Cmd folder and overwrite the original files. After that you're ready to play.

As far as the GWX Skins are concerned you need to use JSGME for that. This is how to do it:
1. Copy JSGME.exe into C\Program Files\SH3Cmd
2. Run JSGME.exe to create the MODS folder.
3. Extract the GWX Skin Pack into C\Program Files\SH3Cmd\MODS
4. Run JSGME and enable the Skin Pack
5. Lunch GWX via SH3Cmd and enjoy your game

The skin pack will not slow your PC. You will see longer loading times but the game speed (FPS) will not be affected.

What is the recommended install order for using GWX and SH3Cmdr and assorted other mods?

I have patched the game to version 1.4b, what next?

1.Uninstall SH3 via Windows' "Add/Remove programs"
2. Open Windows Explorer and:
- *delete* the folder where you had installed SH3
- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder
3. Reinstall SH3
4. If your SH3 did not come with patch v1.4b already included, install patch v1.4b. Ensure you install the patch that corresponds to your copy of SH3 (Download/DVD/EMEA/US)
5. OPTIONAL: Copy and paste this "clean" install as a backup to avoid the need to follow steps 1-3 if your game becomes corrupt in future
6. Visit the GWX homepage (http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/) and download into the SAME folder GWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7. Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9. SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Visit the GWX homepage (http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/) and download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

You should be good to go from '6'

I didn't know that it's necessary to do this for using GWX Skin Pack.
In GWX Skin Pack readme.txt install procedure is simple:
"To install you will need to unzip and copy all files into your \SH3 Commander\Date\ folder. When you launch SHIII from SH3 Commander the appropriate skins for your patrol date will be copied into your SHIII installation."

What should I do know? Use jsgme or only copy Skin Pack files to SH3Commander\Date folder?

It is not necessary. It is an alternative way of installing the skin pack. If you do it via JSGME you have full control and you can get rid the skin pack if you don't like it (yeah right :p ) without messing up the Date folders. This is critical if you use a number of random files in GWX (Aircraft Markings, Intro Screens etc). Both ways of doing it are equivalent and give the same result. How to do it is up to you.

Sorry for butting in here

@jaxa
It is always best practice to use JSGME when adding anything to SH3 or SH3 Cmdr etc.:yep:
The alternative is writing down every file you've installed and hoping if you ever take it out, the game will still play (often files are overwritten).
With JSGME it's just a click of a button and you can chop and change as you please. Plus the files are backed up for you :yep:
Far more easier.

I currently have 33 mods enabled in my GWX 1.03 game installed via JSGME.....can you imagine trying to manage that many changes as something newer or better is released :damn:

Thanks for reply, guys
GWX Skin Pack is good, although starting GWX is much slower now.

It takes a bit of time to load GWX as SH3Cmdr copies about 1GB of skins into the GWX Folder. I can understand that you might get a bit fed up in waiting for GWX to start but the end result is totally worthy the wait.

You now have the time to go in the shower fully clothed in preparation for your patrol :arrgh!:

With Skin Pack I have enough time to wait for my turn in front of Uboot's WC door :D
