First of all, as it is my first post I'd like to compliment everyone in this forum and express my sincere appreciation for all the hard work you guys put on in making these great mods. :up:
I too am having some major probs with the game, the most annoying being the fact that I can't get any response from the AI's, sometimes I can just stop the sub 300 ms away from the enemy boats and blow them that nothing happens, and the few times I had any response at all was just getting some escorts going around my sub in circles while I'm surfaced and being rammed once.
Another one I notice is that after playing it for a week now, so far I've seen only 4 or 5 planes and only been attacked by one of them, that's ok, cause I guess subs weren't that much attacked by planes, what I don't understand is why is it that my game is so different from others, almost everybody complains about the excess of planes. :-?
I've read lots of threads regarding AI's response, can anyone please tell me if there is already a solution for this problem for patch 1.2 ? I'm a bit confused here, posts seem to be a bit contradictory.
Another issue is that the first torpedo shot always explodes about 2 or 300 ms from the sub, is this a known bug ?
Sometimes when I hit a boat with the torpedo they wake up and chase me, but they do nothing when the first torpedo (the buggy one) explodes or if I'm surfaced watching them pass by bout 500ms away, there's no reaction at all :oops:, if I don't attack, they just ignore me, feeling a bit despised here. :o
I'm on my 4th install now, tried different combinations of installing game, rebooting, applying patch, installing, playing a bit, applying patch , with patch 1.1, without patch 1.1, but its useless, getting a bit disapointed, no point in playing it if enemies don't fight back :arrgh!:.
I'm playing it in career mode, on hard mode with ext view, yesterday I installed FTT 2.3, game's much nicer, thank you again modders :D, but AI's behavior remains unaltered :cry:

My specs are DC.2.4, 2gb's duo channel ddr2 800mhz, x1900xt, so I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with ram, cpu or gpu.
Any help much appreciated.

Im always amazed when folks post about the AI not being "responsive".

I have yet to see this behaviour in fact I have found the AI to be pretty good.

This is post 1.2 btw.

As far as AI and planes, I have found them to be fairly good, especially planes, lots of them:yep:

I am sure more folks will add to this.

I believe I once read here that if your AI seems to be less than agressive, that some have uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Of course that doesn't do if you have massive mods installed already.

I bought the download version of the game, rather than the boxed version and I tell you the AI makes me sweat bullets for hours.

Last night I had two DDs chasing my butt down. I was in shallow water and at 33m I bottomed out on the floor. Retracting the scope barely allowed 2 feet of water between the top of my conning tower and the keel of the DDs as they passed over my position. (But as I was in silent mode and all stop and hugging the bottom of the floor they couldn't find me despite being pinged multiple times.

After about 35 minutes of sitting there and using external camera to watch them, (one actually stopped short of my position and did an all stop too, and sat there for a good 10 minutes before getting underway again.) The other DD mistook a bad ping and started droppin DCs about 200 yards off my stern ... it was still an uncomfortable situation.

Once I got underway, had to rise to PD go get moving, I was pinged and the chase began! For the next hour it was zig and zag and vary the speed and depth ... in the end, after an hour or so, they DC'd me to the end.

Try and play a clean (unmodded) SH4. Maybe that helps. It is possible that some mods damage some areas of the game that the modders are not aware of. SH4 is still a complex simulation.

Hi Snuffy, I read that too, thats why I'm on my 4th install.
My game is the boxed version.
Only mods I have are FTT 2.3 since yesterday, before that I was playing it vanilla most of the time, I tried 25% improved torpedo mod and pull down map, which BTW never managed to get it to show although something happened when I pressed the button, I know this cause there was a quick drop of fps .

@Dedpoet - Thanks, that what I've been doing these last days, hence only posting now, was hoping this prob had already been fixed.

@ maeren - Hi Maeren, I've played it unmodded most of the time, main reason is so that I can see how the game works out of the box, always do that with all the games I play, and then mod it the way i like, so I'm pretty sure that's not the prob, in fact I noticed more response from the AI's after a clean install with 1.1 patch, I played a quick mission for 5 min or so, and AI were responsive. I was glad cause I thought it was solved, but after applying patch 1.2, it reverted back to the no action issue again :(

Regarding the planes, I read somewhere that if you navigate with no waypoints around enemy areas, planes won't attack so much, but that's not the case here, I always set waypoints once I reach deep waters.
