Ok, has anyone noticed this. After running at TC of more than 64, and dropping back down to 1, a repeating (and anoying) sound pops up, that matches none of the sounds in the game. It pulses every second.

It only happens after running at high TC, and it is only noticible when the TC is dropped back to one.

Anyone here noticed this annoying bug. Any idea how to squash it.

I grow tired of having to reload because of this stupid noise.

Sorry, I've not encountered that.

One thing that does happen is it 'queues' sounds so that dropping out of TC will suddenly give you a voice report from a crew member that in fact relates to something that happened hours ago. That's had me going "Ship spotted?? WHERE???" before realising it relates to something a long time ago!

Are you running the Ultimate Sound mod? You can get an audio loop of a kind of clunking sound after using TC with that excellent mod. The only solution to this so far is to save the game and then reload the game and carry on.

That description fits what I am experiencing. That is how I have been dealing with it, (saving, and reloading). But that method does get really tiresome when having to do it after every time an aircraft or junk is encountered. Could the person that compliled that mod by chance know which sound effect is causing this so it can be replaced?

I've the same problem since the 1.2 patch. With the "ultimate sound mod" but also without mods :-?

I've a Sound Blaster X-Fi and Windows Vista 64 (It's the same problem with Vista 32). I've the last drivers from creative.

Another gamers have the problem too (on the official forum)

Same sound card here and have not this issue...

May be some "fade" setting into the sound card control panel ?

There is another thread that describes the repeating sound (numbers too)
as part of the disk-protection. In rare cases, it happens with the normal
disk in drive but seems to always happen when a no-disk crack is used...

Well I'm using a totally legitimate CD and I get that problem too. Odd thing is, it doesn't seem to happen all the time, and I've found that exiting compression by clicking on the external camera usually brings me back to 1 without the "clunking" sound. It used to be that exiting to the command room also preventing "clunking," but over the last day or so, I get it ... I don't know, it baffles me. I have had no other "disk protection" problems such as bug-eyed crew.

One thing I can tell you is that it isn't "rare." In fact, it will ALWAYS happen if I reduce time compression to 1 by the "-" key method. Very annoying.

In SH3, after several months of wonderful game play, the disk protection suddenly decided that it couldn't recognize my disk and wouldn't let me play. I could uninstall, reinstall, and then play when it prompted, but if I restarted my computer I would get the same recognition problem. And sad to say, that was when I stopped playing SH3 ... so my point is that I understand their need to prevent piracy, but sometimes their protection system is over-protective.

On my first install, I had that repeating sound problem when TC was reduced.
After the reinstall, it has NEVER happened again. Another bad install problem?

I've installed the game 2 ou 3 times and I've always this problem :-? . I think there is a bug with some configurations (Some gamers have a X-fi). I've a X-Fi and Windows Vista. May be there is a problem between Vista, Creative X-fi and SH4...

I got the clunking niose too, but I assumed it was to show the ag of the boat, because all I ever got it on was the S-Boats.

For what it's worth, this problem only happened for me when I had the Ultimate sound mod installed. I replaced that mod with the Flavored to taste mod (which contains a lot of the same sounds) and the audio looping went away.

I thought the reason for this was that you can't have sound files longer than 15 secs?
That clunking sound probably comes from amb_SubmarineInterior.wav in \Data\Sound, open it and check the length.

But Some players have the same problem without mods :-?

I checked all my looping sound effect files and I believe they are all less than 15 sec. I still get the clunking. It happens about 50% of the time I exit time compression.
