I have 10 copies of Vista, and I still run MCE 2005! I have no desire to upgrade. Why fix something that works as advertised (finially)? Vista is a downgrade in my book - slow ugly pig that gives me nothing other than a neat looking desktop - and it is a desktop I can add to XP.

I'd do the same, but I can bet that it will go no where but in the round file! :D
Man Vista is like SH4 all over again.
Btw XP doesn't rule, it just doesn't suck as badly.:p

Good point! I couldn't sum it up any better! Gentoo rules!
Actually Gentoo is not the OS for the inexperienced, but if you like to tweak, then it is the OS to have. I only have one machine running that now and its my server, but I will tell you that if it weren't for games like SH or DW, I'd probably go Gentoo all the way. It is DX9 that MS has over me, and DX9 is the only thing they hold over me. I bet many here can say the same thing Direct X is the only thing that keeps them on an MS platform.

This does not seem to have made its way onto the Dell UK website yet.

I have actually thought about starting a thread over this!
Read also this article on www.theinquirer.net, were they predict that Vista is going to be a costly failure for Microsoft, and they call it "MeII"

Personally, I have not even bothered to try Vista. I got a bit pissed off by MS during the last year, cause I just got tired of them dropping and switching technologies all the time. For me, killing MDX in favour of XNA was the final proof they dont give a ****, and I also dread a world were every program or web page is based on XAML.
This seems to be a trend these days, and there has been renewed interest in Linux. So everyone who wants to try something different, why don't you download Ubuntu for a change?

Although not everybody loved it, I'd like to get Vista's Solitaire.....on XP.

I recently read a tech review, that Vista is excellent if your running an office, for gamers its just not ready yet. Of course we all know that, yet those i know who do have vista and use it for work are quite happy with it.
I have a problem with Vista's DRM thats stopping me from buying it, otherwise i would, and have it set as a dual boot with winxp.

My laptop shipped with a Vista-ready sticker, thats all the contact I intend to have with Vista :)
XP SP2 is serving me well. How can you add the Vista desktop (Aero?) to XP?

My brother actually installed Vista today since my XP install is buggered to high heaven. He did this to confirmthe fact that the drivers were corrupted and hence the video card couldn't install on XP and that it wasn't a hardware issue. PIECE OF CRAP! Vista does run fine right now. And I have 3D graphics. BUt I already confirmed it as being an XP issue when I ran a live version of Soboyan that automatically enables an XGL 3D gui interface (think OSX).
Soboyan is pretty nifty. And its also named for an Italian dessert.
I'm going to dump Vista off the system the moment I fix XP. Then I'm going to reinstall SuSe 10.2 as my backup. The complete suckage created during 10.1 has been rolled back a bit.
Cheers fellas.

All I know is that MS stock went up $1.20 after hours last night and my loving hubby, who bought tons of MS shares a few weeks ago, can now treat me to some things I've been mentioning lately.

Viva Las Vegas!
On one hand, dell is an abyss of evil... and a weapon used as WMDs by the taliban... (see exploding dells) On the other hand Declaration of not using vista is a good thing... :shifty:
